Mailing programs/service?

So over the past 6-7years I have collected a few email addresses (500k+!). I am running them all through a email verifier program right now to "weed" out all the bad addresses.

A few years ago I tried getting into the email marketing "game" but I didn't put much effort into it and ended up abandoning it.

Now I would like to put these email addresses to good use and send out a few CPA offers. I do not want to spam the whole list over and over again with different offers. I am going to take the emails and put them into groups and test it out. I tried doing a small test yesterday using a gmail account that I setup real quick, but after sending out about 20emails that gmail account no longer would authenticate (haha). I even set the time intervals so it send 1 email a minute. I can't remember the software name off the top of my head, but from doing research they all pretty much look like they have the same features.

I also tried one of my hostgator email accounts, but it would never send through it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for sending out emails like this or a good program?

Thanks in advance!

**edit... I had million... I miscounted the zero's haha (now that I think about me saying MILLION, I bet you guys were flipping out!!)... that's still a few email addresses... My email verifying program is at 38% and I started it 12hours ago. 190,622 are valid so far.

  • How did you collect the 500 million e-mails?

If it wasn't through opt-ins, and rather through purchasing or scraping, you'd probably be hard-pressed to get any use out of them, especially as the 'anti-spam' laws have changed significantly in the last 4-5 years.

If, on the other hand, you did effective lead generation, but didn't get to use them (I have faced a similar situation), you'll probably need to write a software application and/or hire someone to do it, to verify the e-mail addresses. You would also need to check MX records, domain lists (i.e., make sure the domains still exist), etc, etc for verification, and also weed out common 'fake' e-mails, i.e., asdf@hotmail.com (if you used single opt-in).

I collected them through websites off of people that got them from opt-in type offers.

They are all going through the verifying process now through a program that works really well!

I just need to figure out a way how to send out the emails without my email accounts getting suspended for a period of time.

No, I did not purchase these addresses.

Would it be legal to send out an email to all of the addresses stating if they are interested in offers to hit a opt-in/subscribe link and put something in the email that states they are not on my mailing list and will not be contacted again if they don't respond?
I know what you mean on the cost thing though, I have no clue what they originally opted in for so I don't think it would be rational to pay to email this list.
But if I got a respond back from them opting in then I could put them on a Niche list then wouldn't mind investing in email services.

  • You can try that -- but most 3rd party services nowadays have a 'threshold' for spam complaints, plus a maximum import list. (I.e., I think aweber actually has a 2,000 e-mail limit/day, which means it would take you 7 years to import 5 million addresses).

ya, it seems like every option I run through my head there is a catch.
If I were to setup a server at home then my ISP would probably go nuts and turn off my internet because they may think it's spam, haha.

I'll figure something out! Thanks for all the suggestions!!

I found a free php mailing script that is pretty slick!
I found out that my hostgator account allows 500 emails to be sent each hour (I sent 2000 emails yesterday and the bounce back email I got stated this).

As of 10:00am I have sent out 492 emails and used a bit.ly link for the offer in the email. So far it's got 92 clicks! I am just testing out the waters currently.

I want to make a program that will take care of some automation for my online business. When someone orders something from my web site, I get an email with their invoice number. I want a program that every time I get an email with an order, it automatically prints out a shipping label with the address contained in the email and goes to the control panel of my site and marks the order as shipped.email programs services should help bring your advertising into the current century and make you a force to be reckoned with on the Internet.

Yea, I saw a service offering, I think a billion "opt-in" email addresses, I would have serious doubt about the opt-in part.

Aren't the hard core non canspam compliance marketers using tolerant, off shore hosts?

One guy doing craiglist dating spam found that godaddy site hosting provided quite a few email addresses, I don't recall the details, it was something like 100 sub-domains X 1000 email accounts each?

My guess is no matter how you do it you will get shut down as a spammer. Trying to email that many addresses that are years old? I think you will get flagged for the tons that don't get through and you are going to get lots of spam complaints. You also will not be able to defend yourself because you don't even know where they came from.
