What's Wrong With The 'for' Word In Domain

I have been seeing some good keyword that gets over 1000 search per month and mostly product name with the word 'for' and often found out that they are not registered. e.g mainkeywordforxyz.com

I have been wondering why people do not register such domains. Is it wrong if I do? And do I stand a better chance than does that do not?

"for" can and often will be misspelled: four, 4, fore, etc

I avoid domains with words that are commonly misspelled...

I say grab the domains. It'll be pretty obvious that you're using the word for instead of any other spelling. Plus, your mainly using it for SEO, so you won't have to worry about the misspelling. Go for it dude.

I don't know if it's too late or my brain is not responding...
Why don't you give an example with an existing domain,
so you don't have to disclose any domain in question ?

if you are confident of marketing the domains just register them... Sometimes it's about trial and error... $10/domain for testing isn't very ex.... and I'm pretty you can make back a lot more if you are able to leverage on them effectively

The words that I bolded from your original post may be the answer. Many product names include a trademark and you can easily lose your domain and/or be sued by the companies. So most smart marketers are staying away from any domain including specific product names.

Except that those same product names without "for" in it have been taken, so that's probably not the reason.

Your example is a little vague, so I'm not completely sure about the kind of domains with 'for' you're referring to that haven't been picked up yet.

While it's perfectly fine to have prepositions in your keyword domain like 'in', 'for' and 'of' I feel like the domain has to make sense. If it doesn't make sense and it just appears that some additional words have been stuffed in there because the domain you really wanted wasn't available, then I really don't think people are going to take it seriously. Perhaps those domains you're referring to don't really make a whole lot of sense, and this is why no one has bought them yet?

Okay , here is what I am talking about: Let's take golf for example.

Sometime last month, I was using the Google keyword tool and found out that people are looking for used golf club, certainly there was a keyword that had the 'for' word that has not been registered. that is what I am talking about

Perhaps I overthink things especially when it comes to domains, but I'd venture to say that usedgolfclubsforsale.net is already taken (I just checked this, and I was right - there's a decent site built on that domain).

People don't typically buy one golf club, they are looking for a set of clubs to buy.

Plural and singular domains may not seem like a big deal to some people, but I feel they can mean the difference between making perfect sense and sounding just a little strange and unnatural.

10 buck per domain, perhaps you can make a trial on it.
