Blogger blogs are still worth?

What do you think, if I create some blogs at blogger.com with sales pages for niche products and buy some targeted traffic to these blogs.. Will they convert?

    i dunno.

i have some blogger blogs i put adsense on...

and then when i watch youtube.. if i see a video i like i click share and add it onto a relavent blogger blog of mine...

i occasionally also go onto google reader.. and if i find something i like i click "send to"...

i added it in settings so i can send it to blogger.. and put it more in my own words and add and substract stuff.

Whether they convert or not isn't normally related to where they're hosted.

The problem with hosting them at Blogger is simply that they can get deleted at a moment's notice. If it's the fact that it's free hosting that makes you interested, why not just use the free hosting at byethost.com instead, and not have to worry about Blogger's terms of service and their idiosyncratic interpretations of them?

      Quick opinion...

The best use for blogger blogs is to drive traffic to sites you own, or to drive traffic to sites that drive traffic to sites you own.

I'd echo this statement. Blogger blogs continue to be a reliable source of traffic for me in a number of niches. As a primary marketing platform though? Never.

Because it doesn't have Blogger's terms of service, and doesn't arbitrarily remove sites "because they're being used to generate traffic for another site" like Blogger does. Because its terms of service are comparable to those of Hostgator, HostMonster, JustHost and all the other reputable hosts? Because unlike Blogger, people don't get their sites deleted in the night without understanding what they've done wrong? (Sorry - how many reasons did you want?).

It's not the fact that Blogger's free that's the problem. It's their terms of service.

Oh well, that makes it ok, then, doesn't it? Never mind all the other Warriors who recently have done and have said so here so insistently and repeatedly. They probably all just made it up, right?

I also still have some legacy Blogger blogs, about 40 or so of them. Only one has been locked due to an anti-spam bot (most likely offense, cutting and pasting and clicking publish too quickly) and I got that back within about 48 hours.

However, I had to remove eBay ads from them over a year ago due to policy changes, then about 6 months later, the same with another advertising network for the same reason. Now they have rather generic CPA offers which don't do that well. Adsense would work but the niches are mostly 5 cent a click niches and the sites, being mostly my oldest "learning stuff" aren't optimized all that well. That, on top of the more aggressively stupid anti-spam bot, keeps me from recommending new people from using them.

I always suggest for starters, blogger is best but in the long run I never recommend it at all because of so many complications and so much reasons explained my fellow warriors above.

I used to have 2 blogs on blogger from which I was earning ok through AdSense but without any prior and valid reason (Which I think may be Google had some valid reasons) both of my blogs had been deleted.

So why put your work on risk if you can buy a domain in $1 and best hosting in $6 per month.

Tell that to the guy that was ranking #1 for "make money online" with a Blogger site who's gotten his site knocked off twice now.

That isn't the only person either. Tons of people get their sites on Blogger shut down for little to no good reasons.

As another person mentioned, if someone can't spend less than $10 on a domain name and under $10 per month for hosting, then they obviously aren't serious about this business.

The excuse about not having any money is BS to me. I'm sure anyone that can afford a computer, internet connection, electricity to run the computer, the house that their computer is in, etc. can afford $20 for a domain and hosting. Don't go out to lunch twice and there's your $20 right there.

I used to highly recommend them since they could be used to bootstrap a niche marketing site business on a very limited budget.

Today, however, I can't recommend using them for two reasons.

First, many advertisers now won't permit their ads on Blogger.

Second, Blogger's ham-handed and aggressive anti-spam 'bot has a tendency to flag perfectly legit blogs. Minor activities such as cutting and pasting a post, editing an existing post or editing a blog template can set it off and lock the blog.

My company does not use Blogger blogs, and a huge reason for that is because they can be deleted at anytime and without notice. When it comes to Blogger blogs, this is definitely an example of remembering not to "put all your eggs in one basket." Best wishes to you.

for me blogs just add an extra resource for me to direct traffic to my squeeze pages, and sales pages.

Yes its still worth it to answer your question. Why start looking for a new shiney object out there in in 2011, when you could spend that time doing what I do, it will outlast any shiney object and still be around in 80 years time.

That is : traffic to free offer, get them on your list, give them lots of great free info, get sales, then use your leverage lists to sell more stuff to them down the track... simple.

Then rinse and repeat. Still amazes me that posts like this pop up in the WF,

Build a list and build a community around your product, once i started doing that, and stopped using crappy new shiney tools the gurus kept promoting then my online business skyrocketed and I fired my boss. Which I might add was the best day of my life.

    Hope this helps.

Hosting is like anything else. You get what you pay for. You use 'free', you get 'free'.

Seeing as a helluvalotta blogs are designed to 'game' Google, hosting them effectively ON Google is pretty... optimistic.

When you start creating a number of blogger blogs that are promotional blogs then there is more of a chance that Google will delete them as soon as they are noticed. I think you should start creating blogs that you own and control, if you would like to keep them. It's not good when you have built up and put time into 30+ blogger blogs and have them deleted. Even when they send you a notice about your blogs, they will most likely delete them after you confirm the blogs. So make sure they are your own.

If you want a proper internet marketing business get your own domain and hosting. Treat that as your investment in your online venture and you'll do fine.
