Quick Site setup wordpress plugin

hello all, i am currently working on a new wordpress plugin that will be released soon, price to be confirmed.

The plugin deals with wordpress post install tasks like seo, speed, and general setup work.

Installing wordpress through fantastico is a breeze, this pluign will do the same for everyone when it comes to those things everyone does after install.

List of features as of now are:

  • add nofollow links - optional
  • deliver jquery from google - optional
  • remove curly braces from posts - optional
  • remove cliackable comment links - optional
  • move scripts to footer - optional
  • protect wordpress? - base - malicious url requests
  • remove junk from head - base
  • search form valid code - base
  • comment protection - base - block no reffer comments
  • add meta tags - option - tags as keywords, excerpt as desc
  • add robot meta tags - optional
  • htaccess rules - base
  • robots.txt file added - base
  • Add privacy policy - base
  • Add terms and conditions - base
  • Add sitemap - base - not xml
  • Add contact page with contact form - base
  • Remove default links from blogroll - base
  • Remove default post - base
  • Remove default comment - base
  • Ping list - base - over 50 ping sites
more details will be provided nearer to release, but would like to ask your opinions on the plugin.

but all features above are very indepth (ie htaccess deals with compression, redirection, protection of directories, disallow hotlinks, etc, robots meta tags are dynamically set based on page content, ei if is post vs is archive, etc.)

i am missing anything? is there a standard post install feature you would like adding?

This plugin is targeted at niche bloggers who setup multiple minisites using wordpress.

The plugin can save up to 30-40 minutes per blog in defining settings. even more time if you are new to wordpress and have to look up the information.

Thoughts, sugestions, ideas?

i want to see what other warriors think of the plugin idea before releasing.

i would also be interested peoples opinions on the price tag i should set for this plugin?

Again open to suggestions

Your the one making this plug-in huh? Well, it looks great... But other people don't know how to install Google analytic on their site.... Maybe you can add Google analytic on your plug-in...

I guess that's the only recommendation I can give for now!

nice thinking, i have added options to add code to the head and footer section of the site.

think i will wrap it up now and release v1.1.

now just go to tidy up the code and produce a release.

In one of my videos I talk about a plugin that can be used withWP v.3.x.x and after setting up all the WP settings+plugin settings in the main blog - this will "export" all the settings for any new blog/site that you create in your WP 3 Network...

    Just FYI

thanks for that, i am aware of some plugins which do some of things mine does.

but none that can do it all.

With the export plugin you mentioned i assume you would have to download and install all the plugins again, even though you have the settings right?

Im trying to get round this buy making it into one plugin. Also i dont think these other plugins cater for htaccess and robots.txt information?

the plugin is designed to to be fast and efficient.

There are better seo plugin out there, and there are better compression plugins, etc.

but nothing that can just be activated and then the blogs ready.

obviously nothing is ever 100% ready without interaction, but the idea is to set this up around the idea of micro niche blogs.

for this purpose, theres no need for a fully fledged seo plugin, or spend hours figuring out issues with wp-super-cache.

all you need is a basic setup that has the right functions and content.

this is what i am aiming for, thanks for all the post so far.

Ass-u-me-ing... is always a dangerous thing

Obviously, you are not aware how WP 3 MultiSite works.
The new feature is to create zillion WP sites with one single installation. From that single installation you can activate plugins for the main site only or to be available "network-wide", i.e. for all the sites created i the network.

By default, the plugins are available on any new site but they are not:
        - activated
        - set up (options etc.)

With the plugin I mentioned you do all the settings (for Wp AND plugins) and when you create the next new blog/site in the network... all the settings are there both for the WP itself and all the plugins.

My problem with your approach is that it will set up a blog with option/plugins/htaccess/whatever in the way YOU think a blog should be.
For novice users it might even be helpful. Others might have their own idea how a blog should be set up.

        Anyway, good luck!

Yes i have seen and actually have a few sites running from one install myself, the plugin you mention sounds interesting, would you care to name it?

the plugin is going to be aimed mainly at newbies and people who want to spend more time on the content rather than setup.

yes the plugin will be setup how "i" think it should be, but i am following accepted practise, and anyone who has different opinions on best practise for seo will by that stage have the knowledge to set the site up how they want it without the need for this plugin.

Like i said its going to make it so you can just choose a theme, and add content. activate the plugin and thats it.

That might be too little control for the more advanced warriors, but newbies on the scene might benifit from it.

    One tip

Make sure it is secure as Fantastico and other install programs just add the possibility of your installation becoming more venerable. I personally load via ftp and create my own Data bases etc and never have any problems.

Well alot of the plugins features are about protection.

      htacces rules
      refferer rules
      remove login errors
      remove version number
      etc.

the htaccess is a mega protection version.
