You want to get the Baby Hosting Plan - it's ten bucks a month but you can host an Unlimited # of Domains, Unlimited Email Accnt, Unlimited Disk Space. You do have the option to set up Wordpress on any or all of your domains at no addt'l cost - they even have a express install option that automates the Wordpress install for you!

I love HostGator - I've got about 20 domains on my Baby Hosting Accnt - 2 of them are Wordpress!!!

Question. When HostGator says "unlimited domains" they tell you they are setting your domains up as subdomains as the one you have chosen as the primary. So what happens if one gets blacklisted (for some reason - fluke or a genuine error on your part)? Do you lose them all in Google's eyes?

That was the one part of their plan I didn't understand. I'd almost rather pay more to know I'm not creating subdomains instead of true new domains.

To the OP -

I know what you are saying. Wait a day and then try again. Probably your domain is not fully activated yet. I know mine usually takes 24 hrs before it's listed as "ready".

The HG account will be listed under that primary domain name so you need to give the domain registration time to be completed and then get your HG account.

You will be using add-on domains with the plan you mention. Nothing wrong with that, especially when you are starting out and on a tight budget.

I use reseller accounts myself becuase I like having a cpanel for each site - but add-ons work just fine and many use them.

I have the baby plan unlimited domains,unlimted disk space,and
you do not have to worry about band width like free hosting.

Ok so baby plan it is. Now under the baby plan it gives options 3 year 2 year and 1 year and than i think just a month by month payment plan is that right? so i don't have to sign up for a full year and i can just see how it's going from month to month and cancell at any time if i want to?

If you are starting out, then get a monthly plan. Then you can cancel your account any time then you think it's not for you.

ok so when i try to purchase the hosting it takes me to a page that has 2 options 1 register a domain name. and 2 enter an already existing domain name. I chose option 2 because i already bought my domain name from namecheapdotcom, but when i hit submit it says it's an invalid domain name. could this be becuase i just bought the domain name today and it's not processing yet or do i have to go to namecheapdotcom and do something before i can buy the hosting for it at hostgator?

I don't think that you really need this step. Later you need to change nameservers for your domain. To do this, you need to log to your namecheap account and look for nameservers. if you can't find them, then search in google "how to add nameservers in Namecheap".

On your hostgator cpanel (once you are in), you can see your NS address. Usually its ns0000.hostgator.com Something like that.

It was long time ago, when i signed up for HG, so i don't know how to guide you with this "step 2". But don't worry so much. You can add your domain later also.

It just keeps saying invalid domain name. is there a certain amount of time it takes after i buy the domain name before i can buy hosting like does it take time to actually process the new domain name. I just bought it like a couple of hours ago. I juist want to get the hosting damn it and start building my very first site. sorry for the bitching just get frustrated.

I'm trying to buy the hosting today i do not currently have an account with hostgator, but thats what i'm trying to do is buy the hosting and set up an account but it just says domain name is invalid and i can't go any further until i get this. please refer to my previous messages in this thread to see what i'm talking about.

I get what you mean. How come it says invalid domain? Did you try both? New and existing?

Edit: i just tried to enter one of my domains under "existing" and i can sign up. Write out your domain like it is there. mydomain.com for example.

Dude I figured it out I feel stupid now, but anyways the problem was I was copying and pasting the domain name from an email I was sent by namecheap and the form didn't like that so after just typing in my domain name instead of copying it and pasting it it finally worked. I got the help from actually calling hostgator and the support tea walked me through it.
I really do appreciate the help guys.
