How much should I ask for my domain?

I was just looking for fun and found a domain name I thought would be worth buying. I went to eBay and see people asking as much as 3+ Million for domains that are on the same topic.

I think my domain is better than any I see on there, and I don't see anyone bidding on their prices.

I'm wondering what kind of price I should set for my domain, if other people are listing their domains for so high?

does the domain already have PR, LinkJuice, and a good Alexa ranking?

Is the niche a good one?

Will your domain name cut through the competition?

The domain is brand new for a hot and current topic.(Barack Obama) All the domains listed are brand new as well. Mine actually has relevent keywords that would be good for seo, and do have lots of searches.

I think my domain would cut through other Obama domains for sure IMO.

ok well what is your plan, to broker the deal yourself or go with a domain broker or are you looking at putting up for auction?

I can't tell you what it's worth, you obviously know what it should go for. Now you just have to market it to the right people, internet marketer.

They are not serious asking for $3 million for a domain name, they know nobodys gonna buy that. I think they just want exposure.

You know, that's true... Maybe your domain is too valuable to give up.

    Why not develop it yourself?

I have considered that. I am not sure what the best way to develop this particular domain would be. It could go a few different directions.

If you own it, why not tell us the name? It's not like we can steal it from you.

Maybe one of us will buy it.

"I'll buy that for a dollar."

that's my bid without even knowing the name!

Try these sites also... They'll have sites listed for $1 mill + but most are active sites with proof of on-going income and decent PR value. (And the asking price is usually a pipe-dream anyway...)

    • Site Point Marketplace
    • DigitalPoint Marketplace
    • DNForum
    • NamePros
    • BuySellWebsite
    • WebsiteBroker
    • Time2Sell
    • Tidget
    • DaniWeb
    • Sedo
    • Dealasite

These are good marketplaces. There are others also.

See what the sellers are asking and what they're offering. Judge from that.

You might even find a new P... P.. P... err... umm... Pres.. Pres... (Oh, hell, I just can't get the word out!) You might just find a new Barack Obama domain for sale.

    Sorry. Couldn't resist. :p

Sorry if it is bothering anyone that I am not mentioning the exact domain here, other than it is a Barack Obama one.

The reason is if I do so this thread will show up in google and any potential buyer may stumble upon it when doing any research on the domain itself.

I do see alot of Barack Obama domains for sale, but they are all at crazy high prices.

I am wondering if this can benefit me, by offering a better name at a lower price, but still crazy high thanks to the ceiling of what others are asking for theirs.

So this is how I'll show my domain so you guys can help without hopefully showing this thread to my potential buyers.

What is the name of the president elect? Just add the word (websites) and Dot com and that is the domain.

    So B___O____Websites.com is the name.

Considering what the other domains are like and what they are asking, where should I start in your opinion?

EDIT: Here is what people are asking for on eBay. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

    Thanks,

    Aaron

      Aaron:

I think you'd be missing the boat BIG time if you didn't at least build it out for a month or two... A 'directory' of BO web sites holds TREMENDOUS potential for advertising and lots of traffic... And it would be a breeze to build -- a never ending source of growing content.

      SEO. Articles. Linkvana backlinks...

Build it for a month or two and then sell it. You'll draw a much higher price.

        I totally agree with Chuck

The website would be very easy to create.

Make it look nice, nicely placed adsense and ad spots and you have yourself a money maker.

Please don't think $3,000,000 though. Those people aren't getting it because that's ridiculous.

No worries, I am not expecting $3,000,000. I thought that was ridiculous also. Especially when it was something like no drama obama.net that was asking that much.

If you do an advanced search on ebay for completed auctions, you'll see that the highest a barack obama domain has sold for on ebay is $565.55 - and that was for PresidentBarackObama.net. - Is your domain name better than that?

I am biased, so I think mine is right up there. I tell what it is about 3 post up from your reply. What do you think?
