A question on domain names

Hello warrior forum members. Firstly, mods, if i placed this thread wrongly in the wrong section, I apologize.

I want to buy a domain name, for my longtail keyword which is micro niche. what i want to do is like this, longtailkeyword.com but then the .com is unavailable. Would it be okay if i add a letter to the end of the keyword, for example, longtailkeywordx.com, or would it be better to go for longtailkeyword.org / net?

Help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

If you can get the .org/.net, that would generally be your best option.

There's no difference from an SEO perspective.

It's really down to personal preference.

For me, .net would come before .org, as I just prefer them.

Better then adding a random letter to your .com

I seem to remember reading recently that Google loves .org's. Either way though, if I found an exact keyword match .com/.net/.org (assuming the keyword looked promising), I would buy every one I could.

nah, don't add letters; for me, it sounds totally unprofessional; if you want to stick with the name that you chose, pick either .net or .org, preferably .net. There's really not much difference between them, yet .net sounds better with longtailkeyword

Why would Google have a fetish for .org domains?

Anyone can buy a .org domain. That means anyone can create crappy content on crappy sites, on a .org domain.

That means it'd be all manner of stupid for Google to even consider giving .org domains any preferential treatment over other TLDs "just because".

As XtremXpert said, just adding random letters to a domain is not a good idea

I know a guy who used to add HQ after keywords if it wasn't available without them and is working great for him. Adding two-three letters that mean something I guess is much better than a random letter if you want to stick with .com.

that sounds like a good idea. but does it really improve search rank? does it have its negative side?
