Do you remember to verify your choice of evergreen keywords on Google's new Adwords tool with the add-on monthly bar graph that shows searches?

Once a keyword meets all your other criteria (as well as your own common sense), and the bar graph indicates a steady stream of fairly equal monthly searches, is that enough to consider it a reasonable choice as evergreen?

What else do you consider to verify a reasonable keyword choice as evergreen?

Personally, I believe you should consider the niche or the industry. If the industry is "evergreen" then the subset of keywords in that niche likely will be as well.

For example, if your niche was "oil" then it would stand to reason that keywords like:

    "oil rig"
    "oil drilling"
    "texas oil drilling"
    etc

All the keywords would be considered "evergreen" as well.

Nothing is "evergreen" though. This is an evolving world. However, some niches last longer than others, that's for sure.

That's the most important part that many people miss.

Absolutely right on that count. All things technical are most definitely a constantly moving target.

My main concern with evergreen keywords is that I don't miss something that points to longevity. There will always be maintenance required, that's understood. I just want to avoid the temporary fads, unless it's worthwhile for as long as it lasts.
