Hi,

Does anyone know of an easy way to create those website videos that have a small window, but when you play them they expand out? Like the adverts you get at the bottom on windows live messenger, when you hover over it it goes big and plays a movie.

Thanks

You can use a thumbnail of the video and link it through a shadow box to the actual video.
Here is a link to the Shadowbox website. It will explain it in more detail.
    Shadowbox.js

    Hope that Helps,

Are you talking about something like the effect on Online2Offline Marketing O2O | Growing Your Brand ?

The effect is called lightbox. The specific one that I use on that site is called prettypictures and it's a jquery script.

      Hey

Like the video. Would you mind letting us know what program you used to make it? Be very interested.

After Effects would be my guess, but I am sure that you can use other programs; the technique is called Motion (Kinetic) Typography, you can Google it or get on YouTube to see some great videos... BTW, the one posted by Headfirst is a very good one as well!

I have been messing with Motion typography for the past few weeks and although it's not overly complicated, you can spend hours and hours until you get a two-three minute video done.

I use Audacity to record audio, many of the graphics were done in photoshop or illustrator and then the whole thing was put together in AfterEffects.

    Headfirst,
I really liked your video presentation.
Very well done and straight to the point.
    Great Job!

Many marketers could learn a lot from it.

Yeah that's a nice video, bet it cost a few bob to make.

I was originally looking for something different, I thought shadowbox was it but I think the exact feature I was looking for is an extension that plugs into adobe flash cs4. Something like the "ad serving kit" or something. I think that has to be created within flash, no quick ways round it.

Anyway, I was overcomplicating things for myself. The shadowbox/lightbox will work fine for me, better infact, as it will be less fiddley.

Not sure about the Bobs denomination but, I'm pretty sure Bill could save you
a few Bens in your production if he was game.

    Headfirst

    Thanks for the reply.

Last question, what kind of time frame would something like this take to put together (assuming a working knowledge of aftereffects - something that's on my 'to do' list).

    TIA
