Heres how I did it. First create your website with a free blogging site such as blogger.com or weebly. Find a new simple template and find a product to promote. Don't use trademark names in your website url.

    Use something like

    kettles.weebly.com

Throw some articles on it with images etc. Then apply to Amazon.
I'm not sure if the process is the same but I think the system will automatically let you sign up but they will approve you later, so during that time, you need to get your aff link on make it look like a real site.

I got accepted to Amazon Associates program just by using a Blogger blog for an affiliate product through Clickbank. It was just a short blog with a couple of posts.

Just make it look like you know a little bit about marketing. Include some posts and have some pictures to make it look nice.

The approval time for me was about 1 day, it seemed pretty fast.

      Good luck!

so basically you need to show Amazon's screening crew that you are competant and have a basic plan (site/blog).

question: since it required i give the website's name and URL, does that mean i can only have one website per account. so lets say down the road i have multiple sites, i inturn need multiple accounts or can i consolidate all on one account? thanks in advance.

Here is the word direct from Amazon.

          • The minimum payment threshold for direct deposit is only $10, compared to $100 for checks.
          • We deduct a $15 processing fee from all monthly checks sent to Associates, but there is no charge for payment by direct deposit or gift certificates.
          • Direct deposit payments are completely secure and reach your bank account three to seven days faster than paper checks.

If your billing address is outside the United States, and direct deposit is, therefore, unavailable to you, we will waive the $15 fee.

Hope this helps you and answers your question

You should have only one Amazon account. You can add other websites to your account after you've been approved.

so because you put the product in the domain name, it wouldn't accept it?

yep, they came back to me and said any product name (i.e. Dyson as opposed to vacuum cleaner) they would not accept, or a deliberate misspelling of it, or any of their competitors product names either. I didn't realise this as when I was researching it I found at least half a dozen sites with the name in the title with Amazon banners!

Those sites are created AFTER approval (and against their TOS). Take your content and throw it up on blogger, resubmit your application.

That's up to you, but Amazon could penalize you if they find out. Amazon does not like brand names because they pay for advertising and you may outrank them. Also, trademarks are another can of worms, but many people do use them in domains.

yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't want to start on this IM road dishonestly I want to do everything by the book and above board. No what Ill do is just get another different domain name for that niche and try again!

It at first you don't succeed ...

Rather than creating a new thread, i thought id ask here. Do Amazon only pay affiliates via check? I heard they take a cut, when sending checks to people abroad.

Does the cut they take depend on how much you've earned or is the cut just a set fee for each check?
