What is a basic infrastructure for each niche

I am wondering if I could get some feedback, I am wondering what I should "control" and "own" as real sites ( real estate online) for each niche

Main Niche Blog: ideally on wp.org
Secondary Blog? Should I have another blog on wp.com? Set up the same?

Mini sites? Do You need them all? How many

Hubpages.com

Please expand this list if you can

Please let me know when enough is enough ( I plan on doing social bookmarking etc) but how much is enough to provide a place to upload content.

Is that now considered essential realestate for your niche portfolio?

    Ideally... on your own domain because nothing can be hosted ON wp.org. (that domain just lets you download the free script)
