Suggestion for WF site admin

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this, however, I didn't see a section or place that made any better sense than here.

When viewing the forums, I believe it would be awesome to have the main viewing page auto refresh every so often.

Could be as simple as adding <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="60" >
to the main forum viewing pages.

Yes, I realize hitting the F5 button or clicking the refresh button isn't that big of a deal - but figured I would put this out there.

Any others who feel like this would be a nice and simple feature to add to WF?

I think that an addition like that would be pointless. As you mentioned, you can just hit F5 or refresh the page on your browser.

    It could get annoying too.

True. The above code could get annoying - but there are some really slick refresher scripts that could be implemented easily also. (similar to the refresher FB and Twitter uses)

So what you're suggesting is that we lose more control over our browsers so you can save the time and effort of hitting F5?

What branch of Gubberment do you work for again?

Uff, that would irritate the heck out of me. Sometimes I pop open the main forum, scroll down and take note of two or three threads I want to read. I'll hover my mouse over interesting topics to see the first few lines (to see if they're worth reading). This can take a minute or more, depending on how many threads I'm previewing.

Anyway, if the forum refreshed before I got done doing that, I'd be mightily irritated. And I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

Also, wouldn't that be a big resource hog on a forum that's already quite large and resource heavy? All to save the fraction of a second it takes someone to hit refresh.

thats what Twitter and Facebook users thought initially until they implemented their refresher on the news feeds.

Not saying I have any problem at all. Was just throwing an idea into the open.

It typically goes over well anytime site or software updates make life easier for the end user.

    Your points are taken gentlemen.
