I'm Calling "Mouse Potato"

WARRIORS, what would you do...

Ok, here is my situation, I have had for some time now a 12 year old domain that I am doing nothing with. I admitted it, I've been lazy with this domain. I organially planed to maybe put a blog on it, and start getting some pages ranked for long tail keywords. Because this doamin ranks easily in Google for long tail keywords.

I am thinking about just selling on Flippa or here on the WF if there is a spot for that becuase I don't think I will be doing anything with it anytime soon.

Basically, what would you do?

Why let it expire when I could sell it, and let someone else build up the domain.

you can install wordpress, splash in a cool looking theme (that's relevant to your niche) and make it into an auto-blog by adding some plugins.

You can then flip it on Flippa, here or NP for $100-150

I've done this earlier twice, with domains that were expiring soon and i had to get rid of them. Both were sold on NP (i have never tried flippa or WF personally)

the domains were welcomeObama.com and tshirtsdesigner.com

    hope this helps

Has it been indexed for 12 years, with at least a couple backlinks? If so it's worth something to somebody, more than regfee at least.

If it's indexed with backlinks, the fact that it's 12 years old makes it VERY valuable to some... more so than a "fresh" domain.

For SEO purposes, a domain of that age will soak up links much better than a new domain, allowing you to be much more aggressive with your link building. You'll have a much easier time ranking against hard competition with an aged domain like this.

More so, does the domain have PR? If so, then again, it's far from worthless.

Either way, if you're not going to do anything with it then yeh, I'd throw it up on Flippa... better than letting it expire.

How do you know it ranks easily for long tail keywords? Did you have content on it before?

If so, and it was indexed then it would have some value over a brand new domain. Better yet if it had backlinks even more value. Even better, if it was earning then even more value.

If you have never had anything on it, then I don't see the value however, if like d3sign3r says, you put a nice looking blog on it with content then you will have an edge over someone selling a blog on a brand new domain. I think though that it has to have a pretty nice design and be in a good niche to get over $100 these days (but I could be wrong as I have not flipped any non-earning domains in quite some time)

[To place all my cards down, the truth is I havn't check too see how many backlinks are pointing to it.

      Good idea, thanks

I'd sell it to somebody who believes it is worth a lot simply because it is 12 years old.
