Have a question about flipping a website.

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a question about flipping a website. If I register a domain and build a website to flip immediately, how does that work as far as transferring the website (and domain) to the buyer?

I know domains can't be transferred for 60 days, so what can be done regarding that aspect?

Hi Jenny,

You have the option to "push" the domain name to the user vs. transferring it

I always register at Namecheap. They make it super-easy -- all you need is the buyer's Namecheap username, and you can push it to them. They will then have full access and ownership of the domain in their own account.

Stick with what Jenny said and use namecheap....far easier and more simple of a process than other options.

I do exactly the same as Jenn and Drew, but keep in mind that start up sites with no traffic and income are selling for a pittance at the moment, and you may not get much of a return on your time and effort. Generally speaking, I think the days of the instant flip of a start up site for a decent bit of coin are gone.

  I flip a lot of sites, and I just do the push, too. I use GoDaddy, which requires the GoDaddy user ID and email address of the person you're pushing the domain to. The "60 day rule" is for transferring the domain to another registrar. If you're transferring the domain to someone using the same registrar as you (i.e., GoDaddy), there's no issue if it's a new domain. I've done custome blog creation for people where they left it up to me to choose the domain name, and I've just purchased the domain name using my GoDaddy account and then pushed the domain to the customer's GoDaddy account the very same day, often within minutes of purchasing it, and there's never been an issue because I'm moving the domain within the same registrar. So no worries about moving new domains as long as your customer uses the same domain registrar as you (I always mention in my website auction listings that the customer needs to have a GoDaddy account to get the domain, and that they can sign up for an account for free if they don't already have one).

The buyer needs a free account at the registrar where the domain is registered. You then just push the domain to them.
