I read some posts that mention you should not use it as a way to build a blog right from your cpanel, is that true?

I find it much easier?

Any suggestions/

    Not really. I doubt there's anything about cpanel that would cause problems with your blog. I mean, seriously? Ive been using cpanel to setup wordpress blogs and theyve all been a success. At least 90% of them and were just talking about SEO here.

    I've used fantastico to build at least 50 blogs right from the cpanel and I don't see any reason not to.

    You really want to use fantastico or simple scripts unless you are comfortable with installing Wordpress manually i.e setting up the database and ftp the files

    It works just fine.

    I've just used it for the first time, as I got sick of installing Wordpress manually (albeit that I use the MU functionality for most of my AdSense / Amazon site network, I use completely separate installations for other sites ... no idea why ).

    If you update Wordpress directly through its own admin interface though, you may have trouble (as someone else rightly warned) down the line if trying to update it through Fantastico again, since there may be discrepancies between Fantastico's file-list and that of Wordpress.

    But once it's installed, it's easy to update directly and automatically within Wordpress anyway (and is possible on the majority of web-hosts' services), so why you'd need to swap-and-change between the two methods, I dont really know.

    I loved Fantastico, until I met Softaculous! Just one click install, instead of steps 1-3. I don't think all web hosts have it though...
