As a subscriber, what is my value?

Hello,

I often read that a subscriber worth $1 per month (for Internet marketers).

So, if you have 10000 subscribers on your list, you can expect to earn $10000, 15000 subscribers $15000...

Well, why not. But now I receive some emails from a marketer with a list over 50000. He offers some solos and give some proofs of the results he got with his big list. And the results are about $1000 per email send to his list. Only!
That's a big difference with what I read many times.

So, what is the average value for a subscriber in your opinion?

Thanks.

I think where you are confused is that Value of a Subscriber is a yearly value, not a per mailing value.

So if your example makes $1000 per solo and does one each week, then his 50,000 subscribers are worth $52,000, or just over $1 each.

No, no. I'm sure about this $1 per subscriber per month.

So many people on this forum and nobody to reply?

I just made a very quick search and here's that confirms what I say:
Ok, I can't post a link. Even if it's a link in the warrior forum!
Anyway, go to Google and search $1 per subscriber. The first result I got is a thread with Mike Filsaime in the title.

P.S.: not related to my question but why some threads appear in bold and some others not?

      Thanks.

Keep in mind that the $1 per subscriber doesn't mean that literally every subscriber on your list spends a dollar with you. If your list doesn't respond well to your offers, then your subscriber value will be lower, and the more responsive your list is, the higher your subscriber value will be. So a low subscriber value may indicate that the person's list isn't very responsive.

Bold has new comments you have not yet read. Not bold ones, there have been no new comments since last time you were reading that thread.

Oh and I'm not in the IM niche but I don't make $1 per month per subscriber...I guess if I cleaned up the list a bit I would but its more like $5 per subscriber per YEAR.

The word average is the key here. Spread the revenue for each subscriber over a year. May be 5$ dollars in Jan then another $7 in December. Peaks and troughs but if there are enough subscribers on the list the income should even itself out. Hope this helps.

    It really differs per list...

Some are high converting but with a low amount of subscribers, whereas some are low converting but with a heck of a lot of subscribers.

This is just a figure that has been thrown around for years in the Internet Marketing circle - and it has probably helped some IM'ers sell a lot of product.

The figure is $1 per subscriber per month. That means if you have a list of 10,000 people, you can expect to make $10,000 per month from that list.

Do I agree with this? Yes and no.

It all comes down to a lot of things. The market you are in, how those subscribers joined your list, the relationship you build with the list, your skills as a copywriter, the quality of the products you choose to promote, and on and on it goes.

To put a figure on this is ludicrous. Yes, I have no doubt there are marketers out there earning $1 per subscriber per month. Look at some of the recent launches where the likes of Kern and Filsaime have made over $2 million per launch. Let's say they each has a list of around 200,000 people. Over a year at $1 per subscriber per month, that equals $2.4 million per year. They have nearly reached their goal out of one launch. So yes, it is possible.

But I will bet my bottom dollar there are a lot more people out there with lists just as big who are earning a pittance from those lists.

This is one part of life where I can honestly say size DOESN'T matter. The relationship you have with your list is what counts, among other things.

I don't have a thank you button, but I thank you anyway for your answer.

The $1 per subscriber per month thing is never going to work for eveyone.

It's the same as saying that a shop makes $5 per customer that comes through the door. Clearly that simply does not make sense for all shops everywhere.

Through time, everyone gets a feel for their own numbers and can use them as benchmarks for their ongoing marketing efforts.

What anyone else is doing is completely, 100% and totally irrelevant to your situation.

    Cheers,

    Neil
