Simple Marketing Lesson

Both of my kid's grandparents are coming for the holidays. Both are also bringing holiday presents.

One set of grandparents, before buying presents asked my wife and I..."What do the kids want for gifts?"

Then they went out and bought the things that we told them that they want and like.

Now...the other set of grandparents didn't ask "What do the kids want?" They just went out and bought something they wanted to buy the kids and thought they would "flip out" over when they saw it.

Guess which presents the kids liked more and got more excited about?

When you try to market online, which set of Grandparents are you?

Thanks. Good analogy of a fundamental marketing principle:

For an easier sell, and happier customers, find out what your market actually wants and give it to them; not what you think they want and not what you hope/want/tell them to want.
