Off the back of one amazon US sale I thought I would check all the others for click amounts this mth and saw Amazon China. Has it always been there and I missed it or is it new??

They used to be a company called Joyo and amazon bought them out in 2004, as that was the only way to get into the market at that time, since then China has opened its doors a bit more, unfortunately they do on occasion slam it back again. You can become an affiliate just like with the rest of the amazon group, but there are a quite a few things to consider.

First you have to have someone to translate anything you do, sounds obvious, but a lot of people use Google to translate for them and frankly it is so far off the mark it makes you cry.
Second the Chinese market is Very different to ours, including what they buy and how they surf the internet. i.e. not many large appliances are sold due to the smaller rooms, relatively speaking that is.

One fantastic thing about China is that there is an unimaginable number of people there and you can always sell something to someone.

I think it is a great market to get into but I have been having trouble cracking the nut. My Chinese friend will do all my translation but I have not been able to determine the niche or get my head around the SEO there, you have to turn back the thinking to about 4 years ago on Google. Should be easy but all those methods have been drummed out of us by now, so it is hard to get back into it. Another tricky thing is getting a .cn domain name, some prices are through the roof I have not found a good reliable company yet.

If you do decide to jump in keep in touch, maybe we help each other out.

Amazon China holds a minor share of the market there. There is a local site called Taobao that dominates online shopping. But considering that China has the most number of internet users in the world, reaching even the minutest portion of that could be potentially profitable. It's important to get the entire content of your site translated to Chinese, though. Now, that's where the real challenge lies.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will have to think on the china thing I think. Sounds as lucrative as potentially problematic for me. Still learning the ropes in english.
    Thanks again Sarah
