Sales Page Or Not?

Ok I just finished typing my first report that I plan to give away for free through a content locking gateway. Now my question is should I pre-sale the report with a short sale page or should I just send them to download page where the gateway will fire off? I want to get as many conversions as possible what do you guys all think I should do?

    I think you should have a squeeze page. There are lots of available templates in the web that's very customizable. It always work for some. Just don't clutter too much with the page though since most people backfires when they see a page meant to "sell" and not give them information that they want.

    Catchy headline, three lines or bullets explaining your report's benefits, a "self explained" title for your report, good cover graphic and an optin box. More than enough if you are sending direct traffic. Oh and make sure they see the word FREE around.
