Anyone Making Money With Adwords Without Having There Ads On The First Page?

hi fellow warriors,

I am about to set up a ppc campaign. I will create several landing pages and optimize than for certain keywords.

However in order for my adds to be on the first page I would need to bid very high and i cant afford that.

So my question is that is there anyone having a successful campaign without having there ads on the first page results?

Should i bid low and try to work up my ads to a good quality score?

I would hardly have any impressions what do you guys suggest?

Here is a secret: For keywords with high traffic, try to get on the first page, but you don't need to be in the Top 3. Click through costs of $0.10-$0.50 at positions 5-7 is the place to be at.

People who click on the top 3 ads are usually more fickle and will result in lower conversions.

Thank you...FINALLY somebody admits what I've known for ages.

The top position in particular is where all the freebie seekers and those who
are just beginning to look for what they want go. Even though I do very
little Adwords, I shoot for positions 5 through 8. Depending on the niche,
      sometimes 7 through 12.

Take these stats though with a grain of salt because I am not a big
Adwords player. I basically "dabble" in it for testing. Most of my traffic
comes from articles and other sources. I only do Adwords for keywords
that are highly targeted (mostly longtail) and about 5 cents a click, 10
      tops.

Hey Thanks for the tip. What if the minimum bid for those keywords is more than $0.50?

Also If your are just starting a campaign will that affect your minimum bid even if you have a relevant landing page?

Your PPC rate will change pretty soon after google check the relevancy of your site it lands on. However I'm no PPC expert so you might be better posting in the specific PPC forum where there's some top PPC guys in there!

Yes I agree with this after recently testing. Bottom of first page seems to work best for my niches I've tested. Less clicks but higher conversion rate.

How much you bid will depend on what the value of your conversion (sale/lead) is, whether it's 5% sales conversion or something else.

In my case, I have determined a lead is worth $2.50 to me in the short-term. With a 15% sign-up rate, I am bidding an average of $0.30 across my keyword list to get a Cost Per Conversion of $1.20. So I'm profiting $1.30 every time I get a lead.

I use the Conversion Tracking feature to find out Cost Per Conversion, which in this case is getting a lead. The metrics for Cost Per Conversion will appear when you use Conversion Tracking.

If your ad isn't even showing up, it won't get clicked on. If it doesn't get clicked on, you won't get any traffic. Without traffic, you won't get any leads...

    SO...

You CANNOT make money via PPC if nobody sees or clicks on your ads.

Yes, you can make money without being on the first page. Whether it's better to be on page 1 is another issue - more clicks, but higher per-click charges.
