A fun tip to max out your articles on EZA

It's simple. You notice the "most viewed" articles under each article? What if you could crack the top ten for that section? You would get HUNDREDS of backlinks, which would boost your SEO efforts, AND get you more traffic.

So, how do you do it? Well first, lets take a look at what we need to do to achieve our goal. Go to ezinearticles.com, and on the main page, look for your target category. For example, I would choose "Internet and Business --> Forums". This is what I see: Internet-and-Businesses-Online - Forums EzineArticles

Go ahead and click on the first article. The article itself isn't important. Scroll down to where it says "Most Viewed EzineArticles in the Internet-and-Businesses-Online:Forums Category (80 days)".

Click on the last and first articles in this category, and scroll down so you can see how many views these articles have. From this, I can see that the #1 article has had 72 views since it was posted on Setember 30th of this year, and the #10 article has 32 views since it was submitted on October 22nd.

This tells me that in order to get into the top 10, I need to get at least 33 views to my article within 80 days. To get #1, I need at least 73 views.

Easiest. Thing. Ever.

Go to big-boards.com and find one or two forums in your niche. In my case, the warriorforum would be a good fit.

You want to join these forums and start to build up your reputation. Be an active poster who contributes high quality content regularly. Next, when you article goes live, simply do this:

Link to your article from your signature.

That's it. Make the title the anchor text, and you're done. Create a new thread, post in some other threads, and do the usual stuff you do in a forum.

This will do two things:

1) It will get you dozens, if not hundreds of high quality backlinks to your article, which will boost your SEO.
2) More importantly, it will get traffic to your article. You could easily get 10 or more views per day.

Heck, you could even ask members to rate your article in your signature. And if you make an extra effort to make sure your article is the best you can make it, you WILL get natural backlinks, which will help your article go viral.

Now, a few more tips:

Take your author RSS feed and submit it to the top RSS directories. This will automatically get hundreds of backlinks to your articles, and help them get indexed faster by google and other search engines.

Next, do you have a twitter account? If you don't, get one, and start getting followers. Remember, twitter is like a forum, you shouldn't spam, you should be a normal person. Talk with people, and post links to awesome pieces of content that don't belong to you.

A cool feature of EZA is that you can automatically send a tweet to your followers once a new article goes live. Just edit your profile settings and put in your account and password (it's safe with EZA, they just use this information to make the tweet happen).

This will get you even more traffic.

Next, bookmark your articles, your twitter account, and your RSS feeds. This will get even more backlinks for your article, and it can get more traffic.

Some good sites are:

stumbleupon
reddit
digg
del.icio.us

Those are just a few, but you get the idea.

One more thing about bookmarking sites; they are social sites. Network with other people by making comments on their bookmarks, so more people will go to your profile and see your bookmarks. Participate in bookmark exchanges to get more links and traffic.

Some people say EZA is dead. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you use it right, you can get huge amounts of traffic.

Imagine if you researched 30 keywords that had 1,000 or more monthly searches, and had low competition (less than 10,000 in quotes, web 2.0 sites on the front page, etc.), you then wrote one article per keyword per day, and applied the promotional methods I outlined above.

Think of how much traffic you would get.

Something to think about.

    Interesting tip.

The BlueFartters here in WF might just skip all that hard work and just use Mechanical Turk to get the views. BOOM!

For those that don't know Mechanical Turk is run by Amazon and allows you to hire lots of people to do very small tasks for pennies. So you might ask 100 people to click a link at $0.05 a time.

(edit: I like how WF forum changed the word what I originally wrote to 'BlueFartters')

I know. The traditional method is to buy ads on stumbleupon, but EZA frowns on buying traffic, and they are cracking down on it. So if some black hatters want to buy traffic, fine. They'll get caught sooner or later.

As for the "bluefart" thing, that's been around for a long time. Allen decided to change it so whenever someone entered "black hat" without the spaces, it would be automatically changed to "bluefart", so it would make anyone who talked about black hat stuff silly. It works.

Black hat marketing is frowned upon here at WF.

Yes, buying traffic for your articles at EZA is against EZA's TOS.

I'd rather spend my time backlinking my articles on my own site. I hate bookmarking sites so when I do a little of it I would rather build links to my own site... but that's just me.

By the way, I do have articles on EZA that are in both the most viewed and most published without doing all this stuff. Without a good title and a well crafted article it doesn't matter how many views you get to it.

I have personally read some of the articles that are no doubt bookmarked to death and I have thrown up in my mouth before I was halfway through them... which should tell you that I would never click on their link at the bottom because I never get to the bottom.

There is nothing wrong with backlinking only to yourself, Bretski.

            But consider this:

If you do article marketing to gain link popularity to improve your rankings in Google, passing link popularity to your article on a third-party website ensures that those pages where your articles will reside could potentially have real link popularity in which to share with your site.

I link to myself in the articles, and when I link to my articles on 3rd-party sites, I am feeding link popularity to myself.

I do it for selfish reasons of course, but by the same token, I am partially rewarding those who were considerate enough to let me put my content on their site.

Linking only to your articles on your site will give you the full link popularity boost, but by letting other sites get some of the link popularity you are distributing -- because they give back to you -- you are ensuring that there will be more pages of value pointing to your site.

Further, the other site may already have an authority boost that will help your article rank faster on that third-party site.

And if someone finds your article on another site, if your article is written well enough to encourage the click to your website, you get a boost in credibility because the article was on a 3rd-party site, AND you will be able to get the click to your sales page anyway.

Not to derail this thread, but, you are asking for donations in your signature line? There are Warriors here who have written thousands of posts, and have yet to ask for donations.

Instead, in order to obtain your goal, how about consider offering a service or releasing a product? You can do so by paying the forum fees.

(Who knows? Maybe I'm just not accustomed to seeing that here in all my time of posting here...)

You know, it's something I've considered. And I know that there are warriors with better contributions than I who do not ask for donations...because they don't need to.

I actually got the idea from Paul Myers. And the end of his email, he has a link so people who like his stuff can buy him a beer.

The truth is, I would much rather spend my time here on WF contributing useful stuff than selling IM ebooks. My heart just isn't in to that sort of thing.

I feel more comfortable doing this. And it seems to be working so far.

I guess this also gives much more link juice to your article, since it's linked from all other articles in the category.

Btw looks like it shows in most viewed only articles submitted in the last 60 days, not articles that have had the most views for the last 60 days, regardless when they are submitted.

If that's true, the effort last only for 60 days tops, after that the article sinks deep in the site

Actually, it's 80 days now. Not sure why. It just means you need to get so many views within 80 days, then you're done. And yes, you do have to do that once every 80 days, or more depending on the competition. But that hardly matters anyway. If your article is really good, getting natural back links will take care of that for you. Plus there's google to consider.

Actually, I'm not sure if EZ updates those list once every 80 days, or on a day to day basis. You'll have to find out yourself. If it's the former, then it will take some time, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Hate to throw a monkey wrench into the post, but do you guys still see backlinks to the articles in the most viewed section. This used to work, but they recently made some changes and it's not showing the backlinks in Yahoo Explorer or semoz. Some of the older articles still shows the backlinks in MarketSamurai, but you might be wasting your time hoping to get backlinks from getting to the most viewed section. I'd sure like to see someone correct me, as I've got a bunch of backlinks to my articles there.
