Like JibJab...But Different

I'm sure most of you are familiar with jibjab.com. Specifically the ability to edit a prerecorded animation, video, etc. by typing in a personal message and/pr uploading images that will appear in the final version of the animation and send it to friends.

I'd like to produce my own application such as this, and am wondering how long it would take to get something like this programmed? I've been chatting with some programmers about this, but would like to hear from an unbiased third party as to whether or not this is fairly simple (Albeit lengthy) or complex?

I'm being told this would take about 80 - 100 hours of programming time. Does that sound about right? What sort of video can be used if I don't want the standard E-Card style vids?

Thanks in advance. I realize this will not be a cheap project, but the price isn't a concern, as I already have an outlet for this. Just wanting to make sure I know what to expect, and whether or not to expect a bug ridden and problematic finished product, or if this is fairly routine.

Well, I can't offer any advice here because I am a certified technophobe, lol, but thanks for posting about JibJab. I'd never heard of it before.
