Newbies- A Step By Step Method That Works!

Here is a little guide that I hope will help a few people out who are struggling to "hit the ground running".

Step 1 - Find a Niche
I have read about people struggling to "find a niche", which I think is kind of ridiculous (if you are a beginner). How to find a niche: WRITE DOWN SOMETHING YOU LIKE TO DO. Yes, it is just as easy as that. I found it very helpful when I was starting out to write about something that I enjoyed doing. After you have your niche, write down a list of products that can be sold in that niche. For example, I enjoy playing basketball. In that niche, I can sell basketballs, basketball shoes, hoops, rims, jerseys, etc. If you don't have any products in your niche, pick another one.

Step 2 - Set Up a Website
Buy a domain, set up a wordpress website, and install a pretty theme. Install some good plugins which you can read about here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...s-plugins.html. You can then put some adsense, amazon, and/or clickbank ads on your website. Just look for products that are related to your niche.

Step 3 - Create a Free Report
Since you enjoy your niche, this should not be a difficult step. Write a 10-20 page small report about something that people would want to know in your niche. This can be done in a day or two if you are knowledgeable about the subject.

Step 4 - Set Up an Autoresponder
I have heard that MailChimp is free, but you are not allowed to send out affiliate emails, so I would not recommend signing up for that service. I personally use Aweber, but I know that there are many good services out there that you can find just by doing a simple Google search. I usually write 5-7 different emails and space them 1 day apart. In these emails, you should just give information to the person that is reading your email. On the last day, tell them about a great product you heard about and send them through an affiliate link.

I usually place one pop up box on my website and then have another one in the sidebar. Advertise your free report and get people to sign up with their email address. You can also have a separate squeeze page for your report. I usually just add a box to my website, so I cannot comment on how to make a perfect squeeze page. You can find all the information you need just by using the search function on this forum

Step 5 - Traffic
I am not going to go into detail about the million different methods about getting traffic to your website, but I am going to list out some threads that will definitely help you out.

Many Methods

Good stuff to point newbies in the right direction. Driving traffic to your blog, or website is priority one once you have your blog set up and are adding posts consistently.

Step 2 build that email list. I would recommend a lightbox popover from Aweber they work great and set it to appear between 3-5 seconds when a visitor visits your website, or blog.

This is a great a simple, proven strategy that works.

However, I think that most newbies fall at the very first and last hurdles, choosing the niches and then getting the traffic, although the links you suggested are pure gold

If they can quickly start running with a chosen niche as soon as possible without over-complicating and over-thinking things then they will be well on their way to success.

Good plan and good post Mike

    Excellent post Mike!
    Straight and to the point.
Too often, we (meaning ME, MYSELF and I) tend to make EVERYTHING so much more difficult than it really is.
My worst problem was always wanting to add to the instructions and insert the word "BUT' after every sentence. And, well, you know what happens when there are too many 'buts" in the picture!
If you don't mind, let me simply add "FOCUS" as the link that really ties all these steps together. It is so easy to allow ourselves to get distracted from even the simplest tasks.
But, overcoming this obstacle and keeping with your list of steps, there is no reason one should not eventually succeed.
Just stop chasing the weekly fairy tales told by so many marketers, and all will go better.
Thanks again for a useful and helpful post.

I fully agree with focusing. That is one of the biggest problems that people starting out with Internet Marketing have.

If you are able to think of IM as more of a "business" than a "hobby", it allows you to get more work done and realize that in order to make money, you have to put in some hard work.

Very well methods explained for newbies, I appreciate it.

Apart from your methods I would add these also especially for newbies:

There is noting on cake in internet marketing or CPC business.

You have to be really patient and focused, start with a blog and as others told you put Adsense and original content related to your selected niche.

Spend daily let say 2-3 hours to expend your blog, expending means to put content as well link building.

May be in start you won't get much from it but remain focused don't change your plan day to day.

In the mean time read about AdSense and Internet Marketing as much as possible, this forum is a great place to understand things for a newbies.

Once you are getting some thing from your blog and have sufficient knowledge about IM and CPC then you can experience other things.

Look if you stay focused and clear mind then believe me skies are limit in IM.

I just checked out your website and yeah I still consider myself as a newbie (well I really am!) I love being spoonfed with information thats why Im overloaded with information to death by now. LOL. I truly like your step by step guide. Its direct to the point. To any newbies who'll come across this thread, do yourself a favor, stop searching the whole web for the instant "kaching" in your accounts and start making actions for your own success.

This is a great way to get started. I'm not such a "newbie" anymore, but I wish I'd had this when I was getting started. One of my first, and still my best selling niche, is one that I have a lot of knowledge and interest in. It's still my favorite one to write for! That makes it more enjoyable, and easier to keep at it!

Good stuff. Simple, yet effective. I think a lot of people really make internet marketing more complicated than it really is. All you need to do is cut out all of the distractions, get a plan together and put it into focus and go for it! While everyone else is caught up in the "next big thing", you'll be steady earning money.

I just joined the forum this morning, and this thread is the very first one that I've found and it's exactly what I think I need!! I think I'm going to like it here...

    My story...

I have seven blogs, all of which are niched blogs and topics that I'm experienced in and knowledgeable about. I've dabbled in and installed a few affiliate banners, but I just want to make sure I'm on the right path.

My goal is to write on these blogs, create content, reports, and just do text linking to those affiliates that are connected to my blog's themes. Each article and blog post may be on a different topic, but same theme, and I want to be able to link the article to those affiliates that are relevant. Is that called text linking or affiliate linking? Is this something that is already being done or do I have to install banners and stay on a certain topic around those banners all of the time?

For instance, one of the blogs is on fitness. I talk about vitamins, running, sportswear, lifting weights, EVERYTHING that is connected with fitness. Each article touches on a different subject. In that article, I want to link to my affiliates that I'm talking about in the content. Am I on the right track here?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, and if I've missed the obvious, please be so kind as to point me in the right direction. I am here to learn, and eventually share.

    Thanks all!!!

It can be called affiliate linking or text linking; does it really matter what it is called?

Well, if you are staying on a centralized theme and writing articles about that "theme", you could put banners and/or text links on your website. You just just test it and see what the most profitable method is.
