Or you can call it my own thanksgiving

With the year almost ending again, I've been thinking of how much I have progressed over the last three years. In January it'll be three years ago when I made the decision to stay home with my kids.

Although we didn't really need my income and I enjoyed (and still enjoy) spending time with my kids I just couldn't do nothing.

Started out with some mystery shopping, even doing some PTC (yeah, I was that desperate to do something LOL) and after reading the blog of another mother who was trying to build her online business for a while it hit me. Her story inspired me and I was bitten by the bug.

After reading and learning, I took the plunge in April 2008 and set up my first blog.

Although I had no clue what I was doing, I got that blog on page 1 for it's main keyword in record time and traffic was coming in. Got clicks from Adsense, and I was eager to get more.

I just didn't seem to be able to recreate the steps I did the first time (honestly, I just got lucky 'cause, as I said I didn't have a clue what I was doing, so keyword research was something I didn't do).

In June of that year I found out about the 30 Day Challenge and starting August I signed up and went through the course. During that time I build two more blogs who started to make me some income and my first blog got monetized more (I finally learned that there was more then only adsense to make money with ).

But I still wanted to learn more, I felt like I was still missing things. I started to read here (I already signed up before, just didn't spend much time here - you guys scared me with all your knowledge ) and when I found a WSO on niche blogging I signed up and followed the course.

I learned all things to make my existing sites even better, I created more sites and little by little more money started to come in.

About two years ago, I took a new step, I learned that I loved creating WordPress blog and I started to offer this as a service to others. That way I had more cash flow and my husband didn't have to complain about me spending too much money on hosting and new domains. Yes, that's two years ago.

Two years ago, I didn't make a full time income online, two years ago I was just still "playing around". And last year, around this time, I finally created my first product. I was scared out of my mind, but I did it and I listed it and, well what do you know, I made sales.

Since then I've been building on my business, not longer playing around, and I have to say, a lot of that change comes through people I either learned from here, or that I met through other ways but that also have a good reputation here.

Now, what I was leading to is this:

Three years ago, I was just a housewife, a mother, nothing more then that, today, I'm the one who is funding the renovation of our home. And that all because of the action I took and the people I met.

If you're starting out, and you don't see results from the start, know that others have started out just like this and they are making a full time income today. You can be one of them, if you don't let yourself be afraid.

Okay, maybe I'm rambling, might be the Friday afternoon tiredness that is working my brain, but I just thought I'd share, 'cause the WF has been a big part of my education

    Leslie,

You have taken what you learned and put it to work for you and I admire you for sticking to it and perhaps most of all for taking focused action.

Others here could do well to follow your example.

        Leslie,

You have accomplished a LOT in three short years. I've been blessed to get to know you a little over the past few months and I know your success is due to you total focus, passion for what you do and almost non-stop hard work.

Even though you live in Belgium and are so many hours ahead of us in our skype group, you're still working most evenings with us!

Thank You for sharing your story here. It's a privilege to hang out with you on skype as one of the 'Girls' as we work behind our respective computer screens every day.

    Thank you Angela,

Yeah, my best work hours are in the late evening, when the kids are in bed and I have time to focus a bit. But it's worth it, I have the best of both worlds.

I have gotten to know Leslie personally and she is a great person. If people had her attitude and determination, there would be far more successful people online.

    even doing some PTC
I'm not sure what that is but obviously it's legal in Belgium!

What did she do that a majority of people never do...

... when I found a WSO on niche blogging I signed up and followed the course.
She actually read and implemented the guidelines!

During that time I build two more blogs who started to make me some income
    She took action!

I've been thinking of how much I have progressed over the last three years
    She persevered!

For those who want to become successful I suggest you reread her post very carefully and follow her example. You see, the "how to" part of making money online is NOT all that hard. It's the "will do" part that is extremely difficult!

Take care and have a great whatever it is wherever you are!

Leslie it is great to see a family succeed. And a working MOM who can "break from work" to tend to the skinned knees and occassional fall from the swing set.

Newbies should be inspired and take note of your preserverance and courage for jumping in and figuring things out.

ENJOY those renovations, your family has earned them (I'm a believer that the family person {mom or pop} has to work even harder...

you single people should just get busy and get er done.

Congrats Leslie and continued success. And thanks for Sharing this Thanksgiving season too.

    Chris:
PTC is paid to click, you know, the kind of sites where you sign up and you get mails where you click and get paid some cents. Yeah, I was totally bored LOL Thank you for your kind words, as you were someone I looked up to when I started here, that means a lot (even if I don't say that everyday )

    Diana:
I love them too and will always read them. Today it just got stuck in my head to share mine, so there you go

    Gjabiz:
The time I can spend with my kids is one of the best pays I'm getting from this job. Before I woke up at 6am, left around 7am and came home 12 hours later, you can just imagine how much family time that left (none whatsoever). We are enjoying the renovations, my husband does them himself, with me as his boss LOL Thank you for your kind words.

That is not a success story as much as it is a marketing/sales lesson. Read between the lines and if you can't, read Mr. Sutton's post carefully.

    Good show.

Good show? I'm not sure how to take your post, DogScout.

I've been friends and business partners with Leslie for over a year. Both her and I have expanded our businesses in leaps and bounds. Hers is truly a story of doing things the right way from the get-go, learning while you go, and finding success because of hard work!

Take it the way it was meant, as a high compliment! Yes, it is a success story, but it is a huge marketing story and example to follow as well. Not just inspirational, it gave the WAY to that success! ('Good show' is a UK term. Not as the post was a show. Lol. I know I am not from UK, but is what I meant. Hence my reference to CS's post.)

    Leslie...

Thank you for that intimate look at your journey so far... it is inspiring
and not just because of your stick-to-it-no-matter-what persistence, but
also because of your gentle reminder that the reason many of us want
    financial success....

... isn't really because of the money.

Its to have the freedom to hug our kids and be there for them when they
    get home from school.

The opportunity to spend each day doing what we want with whomever
we choose, like our family -- with the very limited time we have on this
    floating space rock.

There is more to financial goals than the detractors, who are generally
broke, can even begin to understand and I for one appreciate your genuine
sharing to help remind me personally that although the money consumes my
focus so much these days, the REASON for wanting it and for wanting success
    with our businesses...

Is to be able to read a book, play a video game, go for a walk, play catch,
watch a good movie... or just be there for a hug and a kiss for our kids.

Well, and purchase a nice Coach pocketbook for your wife every now and
again too... that's very important for family happiness you know?

Thanks again for sharing Leslie... can't wait to see what you do in 2011 and
    beyond!

It's been a real pleasure to get to know Leslie over the last year or so. She's one of those rare people you meet now and then who is funny, caring, and can also be "all business" when it matters. That really is a rare combination. I value my online friendship with her.

Leslie, I'm so glad things are just getting better and better for you in your IM career! I know you have big plans for 2011, but for someone like you - I have no doubt that you'll reach your goals. Thanks for sharing your story. It's inspiring.
