    There are many different VPS hosts out there, and pricing can be pretty cheap, depending on your requirements. If you're looking for a VPS to host a website with moderate traffic, $20/mo hosts are available from many different hosting sites. Which one you choose depends mainly on things like where you want the VPS to be hosted and what kind of a load you expect your VPS to handle.

    from my own PERSONAL experience, I would not use the word "cheap" and "vps" in the same sentence...

    I would simply get hostgator... Period... Trust me... this is 10 hours of research and 5 days of hassle I'm giving you for free...

      I couldn't agree with this more, after going though 5 VPS providers, i have ended up on rackspacecloud services, they have great vps/server offerings that you can upgrade/download at a click of a button (and yes it is really that easy - have done it a few times now).

        I've had a few VPS's at different times and at the moment I'm with KnownHost. I've got their VS2 plan.

        I'm not convinced I need a VPS and was looking to move to another company with shared or reseller but that fell through. I know for a fact I would miss the VPS though. The KnownHost VPS is the fastest performance wise I've had to date, and support is very punctual.

        I just noticed the post above. I've been with WiredTree as well and can recommend them. So for these two you'll have to balance out the plans they have along with cost etc. I would give each one of them a support ticket and see what type of response you get and the time frame you get it in. In saying that you won't go wrong with either based on my experience regardless of my contacting support suggestion as either one could be slightly longer in replying than the other on any given day.
