Enjoy my complete Facebook Failure With Me

I bought a product telling me how to advertise on Facebook
Fantastic Product- it all made complete sense.
So I prepare my first ad with a great photo. Even sent people to a "sandwich" page specially prepared.
Paid $50 dollars to facebook for one days advertising of my own product.

My click rate was 0.046% - So bad I just can't stop laughing at such a magnificent and complete failure.

That equates to over 45,000 impressions and 21 clicks according to the stats. Meanwhile I will return to google adwords while I work out what went wrong.

Does anyone have any ideas

Yea Ken, don't quit your day job...

Question...do you think it was the niche you were working in that caused the results you saw?

I think it might be the niche - its quite obscure - not mainstream
I will work on it over the next month.

BTW - I am not too far away from quitting the day job so I must be doing something right

You need to test MANY more ads and images than that. Most will bomb, but the cream will rise to the top.

Keep in mind that with FB ads, you're going to see CTRs much lower than search traffic.

I think you gave up too soon.

Facebook is full of mainstream people looking to socialise, not to buy. The things that will get clicks on there are not the same as on a general ad network.

My company and I have tested/tracked ads that were placed both on Facebook and Google. Our results through Facebook were disappointing. Lots of socialisation (socialization), but little, if any, desire to actually move ahead business wise.

Please keep testing and trying, especially since you believe you have a quality product. Best wishes as you work toward leaving your day job.

I have seen so many people testify to the fact that facebook CTR is incredibly low. And few people who are actually truthful say that facebook ads can be profitably. I have not seen many people actually give results of tests on facebook, instead far too many people are ranting and raving about the traffic you can get from facebook ads, with the only evidence being the 500 million people using facebook, which is because it's a social site

A friend of mine has been marketing her online shop (something pet related, apparel for dogs I think) through facebook with great results. She told me about it a year ago, maybe things have changed meanwhile?

I have been thinking of trying facebook ads as well, but this thread sounds really discouraging...
