Default Question: automated Paypal delivery

Fellow warriors,

Is there a way to automate the process of delivery of a digital product paid through Paypal without requiring the customer to click on "Return To Merchant" post payment?

Been looking at e-junkie, but not too keen on paying a recurring fee.

Thanks!

DLGuard is an excellent tool, which also allows automatic placement of buyers onto a GetResponse-hosted email list. I can't recommend it highly enough.

With paypal, you have to click on the "Return To Merchant" post payment button to go to the download page.

However,

there is an alternate which works with an aweber account. What happens is that the email addy of your customer (With which they make the purchase) gets automatically added to your aweber account [With out the need for opt-in] and then you can send the download link in your first followup message.

The downside to this is of course, that all your subsequent messages will be sent to that email id (With which they made the purchase) and Many marketers are NOT OK with that since they use a secondary email addy for receiving OPt-in content.

Result: High Unsubscribe Rate!

Regards
Bhupinder

Bhupinder - quick question. How do I integrate Paypal with AWeber? Do I need another script, or it is within Paypal?

It can be done using Paypal IPN, you will need to have a custom script for that in your payment page.

Hi Deric,

If you have any questions about DLGuard (thanks for the recommendation, Bill!), then let me know - I'm happy to help!

The benefit of using a download management system is it's a LOT more secure, and it looks a lot more professional.

For example, using DLGuard your customer will be sent directly to their own unique download page after buying, and they'll also recieve an email with their download link, just in case.

It's a LOT more professional, and can cut down customer complaints who suddenly think they've been scammed because they don't have a download page, and the Aweber email hasn't yet turned up in your inbox.

cheers
Sam

The simplest way is to hire a coder to get the paypal IPN implemented in your site. Shouldn't cost you more than 25 bucks as most of the code is provided by paypal and all the coder has to do is customize it. You can also make the IPN script post the customer details to your autoresponder.

That solution will be way more robust and scalable for your future products as well.

Cheers
Satya

If you're going to spend time, money, and frustration on hiring a programmer, then you're probably better off buying an off-the-shelf solution, as you'll get a LOT more bang for your buck.

It's always a lot more expensive to get a custom solution than it is a ready-made solution where the expenses are shared over a huge number of people.
