Pros/Cons hosting blog off of a product site

Hey Warriors

I don't have a personal blog yet and am contemplating hosting it off my product site PLRPump - Buy PLR Create Your Own Product in Minutes. (Thanks to all who supported my Grand Opening this week!)

Anyhow, I know I can glean some link juice if I fire up a blog separate to the product site.

Are there other reasons why I should keep this separate from the PLR site?

1. Site may become overwhelmed with traffic coming to read my posts and that would compromise the product site. (Ok, I'm thinking positively here that hoards would rush to read my next post.)

2. I could P.O. someone and they could hack my blog and possibly the product site.

3. Posts may compete with the PLR content for ranking.

Any other ideas out there?

    If your blog is hosted on a different domain, if your blog posts catch attention and gain link popularity, then you would have link popularity to share between domains -- from your blog to your product site.

    If you can get both to rank for a particular search term, you are only 8 blogs away from potentially owning all ten search results on page one of Google.

    Personally, I would put the blog on the same domain. Gives consistency and allows you to focus on your 1 site, and build it up to where it can dominate your target Niche.

    Having it separately might help some with link juice, but overall, I don't think it's worth it.

    If you are trying to get the site to be solid in Google, then focus on building it's authority by adding a blog, adding good content consistently and marketing it effectively. That will raise your rankings over time and give you a solid site to run your business.

    Other people might have some other recommendations, but that's what I would do.
