Let's Talk About What You Really Need From A Web Host?

I'm in the middle of building my web hosting business and would like to ask you about what you really need from a webhost.

There are a lot of hosting user, especially marketers, don't know what to do when it comes to setting up their new website or hosting account, and there are others that simply don't have the time to do it.

When people got stuck at their hosting problems, and when the company support is too long to answer, people turned to forum, sometimes even to a non webmaster related forum.

With this in mind, I'd like to create a hosting package that includes a video training like wordpress video, cpanel, SEO and community forum that can support users with the questions and problems.

What other features do you like when it comes to a webhost? Please share your opinion. Thanks!

Hostgator is the best one I have had because they offer everything I need and I love their customer support which is English speaking based out of Texas and they have been very helpful to me whenever I call them. I have been a customer for a few years and I am happy with them.

You want to look for a host that has a lot of positive reviews, is going to be around for years to come. ( meaning a viable popular business that is not gonna shut its doors tomorrow)

For me since I am a blogger offers Wordpress self hosting which I think pretty much all do these days anyways)

And an educated English speaking support staff that will answer your questions around the clock. So you can understand them clearly and know they know what they are doing, and polite.

    These are my criteria!

Like the guy above me said.

Hostgator is the way to go.

Easy, affordable, TONNES of positive reviews and more!
I've been using hostgator for over 2 years now. Although I am currently not using HG. I would still recommend it!

    Good luck!

For your own company, look at getting Fantastico De Luxe, which makes the whole wordpress training thing a moot point. Also, the ability to easily manage multiple sites across different IPs, which is the one thing that Hostgator does wrong, IMO. It's difficult for me to fiddle with that stuff.

    • Of course hostgator popped immediately to mind. People want reliability. They want answers to their questions and video is the best way to address that. People want support. I love hostgators chat - whenever I have a question i go there and they answer it. Hosting is super competitive. Even I offer hosting. Hosting is dirt cheap. I would imagine it would be difficult to edge into this market. I am not saying you shouldnt try. Why not? It can be a reliable monthly income. Your going to need a thousand clients just to make a go of it, but I believe it is totally possible. There just may be easier ways to make a buck.

Personally I do not like Cpanel. The inexpensive hosting companies use Cpanel while the more expensive hosting companies use other control panels. Cpanel is very hard to use!!!

Hi thanks for your comment, how many IP does hostgator provide? and how do you switch between them? do they provide you with multiple cpanel or you can control them from one single cpanel account?

HG in their business plan provides Dedicated SSL & IP, but I don't know how many.

They provide multiple cPanels in their Reseller account, you can check their site for details.

Hostgator is indeed favorable, especially here on warrior forum. But there are a lot of less known web hosting that does great service at cheaper price. They have their own target market to serve and has been around for years.

Hosting has a great market potential with hundreds of new people build their new website everyday. So I believe there are always a market, depends on how you approach it.

    @Odhinn
Yes Fantastico deluxe is a must

    @Tim
What other control panel you suggest? I think people are already familiar with cpanel nowadays. The most hard control panel I ever use is godaddy's

    "Reliability" - that's all I really need.

Sever Transfers, DDos Attacks, 999 errors(whatever that means). . .I don't want none of that.

Plus, I'm not so very technical so it'll be nice to have a Support Staff answer my questions when I bump into one.

    Hi fullmatrix,
the most important features i would seek in an hosting package are:

-Storage,if you have a large, complex website it is very important that you choose a hosting package that is capable of supporting your website.

-Backup Capabilities, don't believe that only your computer can lose data, but even servers can lose data! So it is vital find an host that offers adequate backup capabilities.

-Multiple Domains, i always look for this feature and i make sure i can host multiple domains!

-Support,technical support is extremely important. You can offer ticket system, live chat and many others.

-Extra Apps, you could offer set-ups for social features like forums, bulletin boards, mailing lists. Many hosts, like 1&1 and Godaddy, offer setups for eCommerce solutions!

but you can offer many more features like SSL certificates,Email Accounts,Free Adwords etc.!

    Good luck!
