Has anyone noticed this forum being slow/laggy/unresponsive?

This forum seems to have become fairly laggy and unresponsive these past few days, especially when I hit the submit button to put in a new post. Sometimes I find myself waiting 10, 20 seconds or even longer for that post to register. Is anyone else experiencing the same issues?

Paul

It occasionally does that, but it is on your end not theirs.

Log out and back in, and the lag will disappear.

    Try it, it works.

I'll try that and see if it makes any difference. I'm only mentioning this because it has never been this bad, at least for me, until the last 2-3 days. Prior to this I really never had any issues with delays in posting.

I haven't noticed it today, but it does bog down once in awhile.

    Yep; I've noticed!

And that's especially bad for me, because 9 times out of 10 I've made about 50,000,000 typing errors, and only realise after I've posted.

By the time I've edited and successfully re-submitted, people have started replying, quoting and thus cementing my embarassing mistakes forever in time, for all to see.

(Not that I'm really all too bothered about my image. If I was, I surely wouldn't have a grown a beard, right? )

    lol

I just posted in another thread, and it turned the text into one big block. Hopefully it wont do the same again, but this seems to be the first problem I have noticed. Cheers, Colin Palfrey

I noticed the title of this thread a few hours ago, and in response to the question thought 'No'. Since then (and I think I've logged in and out twice during that period) the forum has been throwing one wobbly after another.

The latest was when I posted to a thread and got the message that goes something like 'This forum asks that you leave 30 seconds between posts... (I've forgotten the rest)'. The forum went through a phase where that one would show up quite often for me, but it's been some months since I last saw it. It turned out that my post had been submitted anyway, but the forum must have thought I was trying to submit it twice. Or something.

Edited to add that this post appeared after submission with the most blisteringly fast speed I have ever seen - it was instant. I'm not sure whether the forum is unhappy or not now - it seems to have cheered up considerably!

Well it did, but not today...and I hope it wont lag anytime soon. Some time before the forum gave an error page and I decided to submit again only to find out that my post was already posted. Glad there is a delete button here.

Softlayer is having issues with its Dallas datacenters. Nothing to do with the forum, although it definitely does affect the forum.

Hopefully they will get things cleared up soon...

I guess my thread is pretty timely...I post about this issue earlier in the evening, and in less than 2 hours the whole forum goes down, lol.

Apparently the thanks buttons and thanked posts features were partly responsible for the outage, according to what Allen has been stating in another thread. It may not even be coming back, but I'm really, really hoping that it does.

    Paulie, you're right on...

Yesterday I was making a post, thinking my connection was slow. And - impatient as I can be - kept clicking the 'Post Quick Reply' button.

Then the page finally refreshed, showing 5 copies of my post...

Though everything seems to be working again now. Only that Thanks is gone.

I had that issue too, Dave. The thing would just freeze when I clicked 'Post', and on at least several occasions I had to probably wait 20 seconds or more for my post to appear.
