There's been a lot of speculation as to the value of Twitter. I myself find it to be a great networking and communications tool. It's a place to interact.

Now, it turns out that Twitter is also a place where we can save three children's lives. Three kids with CHD -- born with heart defects -- got life saving surgery from Dr Mani because we raised the money through Twitter.

If this doesn't make Twitter a powerful tool, what does?

    Well done Kevin!

I joined Twitter yesterday and haven't got anything else done since :-) Well, I submitted a few articles first thing this morning and posted 2 threads on here. Apart from that I've been in and out of the forum all day, using twitter on and off and learning to use it.

Just joined the twitter social group here and gone crazy following people - I followed you after Cheryl :-) Just need to work my way through the list. I wonder how many followers I can get by the end of the week?

Where do people find the time to do it all AND work?

    Best wishes

    Mary

Actually, I'm always in awe of how Dr Mani does doctors rounds, heart surgery, runs his Internet marketing, and pours out a gazillion ideas. If you ever get a chance to meet the man in person, you'll see a brain that never rests.

    Hey Kevin,

From a purely business or marketing perspective, I'll report what it has done for me when I had even less followers than I do now.

I sent out a tweet or an update on twitter about a new feature I had added for members to tell others about the site and also about the new toolbar that was created for the site being available for download

and within literally 10 seconds, there were 30 new visitors to the site

signing up and registering their new account.

It was great because the followers were people who were interested in what I was tweeting about and may not have heard about it from another source, but with twitter, it was a real time update and got instant results.

    Does that count?

Dr Mani is one of the most down-to-earth guys you can meet. Soft-spoken and yet burning with intense ideas. After you meet him in person you can't help but like him.

Actually, at last count we had a couple thousand raised in our IM Dream Team too. That will go to the Mustang Development Service Association, and be ear-tagged to buy supplies for the schools that they built for the kids in Nepal. This same was able to get a donation to start a lunch program to help under-nourished school kids.

Goes to show that the Internet can be used for all kinds of good deeds.

I thought that people are using twitter just to update others and promote about what's new with their site. It's good to know that it is also being used for good deeds. It's great that people are using every ways and means to extend help to those in need. Well done!
