Buttons, Conversions, Styles, Oh My!

I saw a really insightful post that I thought I'd share. I like posts that relate real testing based on numbers and gives you examples, instead of theory and gut feel. This post really shows how varying your button style and design can really improve conversions, click throughs, etc.

That is an interesting article. I just scanned it; now I am going back to read it carefully.

But these have always been issues in commerce. Have you ever wondered why red is a primary color in restaurants? The restaurant chains have tested colors for paint and furnishings in their stores.

Red is almost universal in restaurants, and variations of yellow and orange are common.

Good read. I like the finding of "Add to Cart" increased orders Vs "Buy Now" increased conversions.

Yes, good points guys. Little things like this can go a long way.

Wouldn't it be great if there was 1) a consolidation of all these testing results in place, and 2) a Warrior with more graphical talent than I have that offered some of these button designs that used the best practices? I think it was Ryan Diess that did something similar a year or more ago.

It's amazing how some of these tweaks can make such a difference. Testing can create one of the biggest paybacks out there.

It's surprising how much time and effort can be put into a website only to let testing be over-looked.

If just one small change can increase conversions from about 1% to 2% then that could be double the profit for no more work, and it can be as simple as just changing the layout slightly or even a button as shown here.
