Has anyone every bought an Email List and used it successfully to gain customers?

What about the people on the list. Won't they be a bit pissed to have someone else sending them emails?

What are your thoughts on this matter?

    Mike,

My thought is to remind people that any post promoting the use of unsolicited bulk email is forbidden in this forum.

    Just don't.

Not promoting, just asking for opinions.

You'll get lots of answers, if the thread goes the way it usually does. (It's been asked hundreds of times.) My warning was meant to let people know that there won't be any safe endorsement of email spamming here.

The word is defined, for these purposes, as outlined above: UBE.

You can rent lists from InfoUSA.com. They control it and mail for you. You do not actually buy the list... however, I cannot see it as a profitable solution for MOST marketers. I recently looked at an extremely targeted list for a client. There were over 220,000 emails on the list and InfoUSA priced it at $8,800!

If you plan on getting about 80% deliverability, a 3% to 4% open rate and a click thru of probably less than 1%... then you are looking at spending about $100 PER CLICK.

That might be tough for any marketer to profit!!!

Buying email lists is usually a bad idea. A huge portion of the emails never get read, this is because most of the email addresses have been deleted.

Even the ones that do get read are often set up by bots that automatically login and read emails to boost your stats.

If there are any genuine people reading the emails by this time, they will likely be completely uninterested in your niche and not buy anything anyway.

Spend the time to build your own list. Then you have control over the quality.

Complete waste of money. a) it's NO better than spam and b) you have NO relationship with these people, if indeed they are real people. They will bin your mail, report your domain for spam. There's a c), a d) and an e) too, but I think there's no need to go on.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

The reason I ask is I saw someone on Fiverr selling a list of 3.8 million subscribers and it made me think of what people think about it. I never intended on buying it, just wanted to hear what other people thought about it.
