Help Needed, Where Can I Sell My Site

PLEASE EXCUSE ME IF THIS IS IN THE WRONG SECTION - I JUST THOUGHT
SELLING A SITE WOULD INVOLVE MARKETING! PLEASE MOVE THIS THREAD
IF NECESSARY

Hi guys, I'm Stephen, a new member needing some help.

I have been redinng through the vast array of information on this amazing
forum for quite some time now. Actually everytime I would like to find
information on any topic I search Google for the keyword that closely
describes my problem followed by warriorforum, and nine times out of ten
the answer is there and no further action is needed on my part. However
this time I would like some personal advice so I decided to join.

First of all I would like to say that I have a product which I am planning
to sell on ClickBank (sales page and partner centre complete, waiting to
upload) and product a few days from completion. I know it's not relevant,
but for those of you who would like to know my product is a step by step
guide showing you how to turn a 2 pence piece (or any coin for that matter)
into a mini spitfire plane using tools that almost everyone already has.

The problem I face is that I am flat broke at the minute and know that
once I arrive at the point where ClickBank approves my product I will not
be able to pay the $49.50 activation fee. I have created all of the material
for my ClickBank product myself, and the last of my spare cash went on
acquiring a video camera to film the step-by-step instructional video.
To be honest I didn't even realise that there was a fee that had to be paid
prior to your site being listed in their database, I just thought that
they would be taking a percentage of each sale of my product.

The only thing that I can think of to raise the funds is (reluctantly)
selling off an affiliate site that I have been working on. Basically I
have a clickbank product on it. It hasn't made any money yet simply
because it has been loitering around on the fifth page of google for
most of it's life, however it has steadily climbed over the last few
weeks and is now at position 7 on page one.(after a social bookmarking
campaign).

I think that once it reaches the top few results it will start to generate
sales. The main keyword gets around 3600 global exact match searches and
is the one that I am ranking for. By the way the theme of my site is
premature ejaculation. According to a few valuation sites my site is now
valued at on average $350 dollars. (how reliable are these value sites)

Really I wanted to ride this site out as it's my first try at affiliate
marketing, but I think in the short term my own product would make me a
bit more money and quicker. What's more there are a few affiliate links
that I will be placing in the resource guide that accompanies the actual
instructional video so maybe I will get some sales from them also. Plus
I figure that once the money starts coming in from ClickBank sales I
can simply start a few more dedicated affiliate sites.

So what I would like to know is what are these valuation sites reliable
and where would be the best place to sell my site, by best place I mean
where there are plenty of willing buyers and I will get the best offers.

Thanks for reading this post, sorry if I have waffled on a bit, any help
you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Ste.

You could sell it here under the websites for sale section or at Flippa.com.

Try to find some sites similar to yours and compare them until you arrive at a price that you think is reasonable.

    What is your product about?
Website valuation scripts are not accurate. I've had some tell me that some of my websites with almost nothing on them are worth 6 figures simply because I know marketing and get a lot of traffic to them. What good are a bunch of people reading free information when it comes to profit and revenue though, so that site at the time was really only worth a few hundred bucks.

Your site, with no sales, will not be a very easy sell unless you want to let it go for just the $50. If it's a well made site, you might get a buyer without much work.

You might be better off posting in the Joint Ventures section, and looking for somebody who'd be willing to cover the clickbank fees and or help with other aspects of getting your product out there. You've nailed the #1 on the head though, you need to get your product up and out for sale.

Another option, would be to really start pushing the completion of your product's sales material and getting a couple sales manually outside of clickbank. Websites do still make sales without any forum, community or large group of affiliates, especially when you apply yourself and the right techniques.

If your product is something I'm interested in I would be willing to see what else I can do to help you get it going.

When I was younger, I used to visit my Grandma's every sunday. Ever since I can remember my Granddad used to be pottering about in the shed and I always used to watch him. Then once I got a bit older he used to let me do little projects. One sunday he showed me how to make a Mini Spitfire Plane from a two pence coin. It was just amazing, I used to make them every time I went then for months.

Then a few weeks ago I went to my dads and he was clearing out his loft and found a few spitfires that I had made. Just seeing them brought all the excitement back from when I was younger. At the same time I had a lightbulb moment. I thought why don't I sell the process to people, I know they would like it. Especially crafters and people who like airplanes.

So that was it I started building a site and promotional material immediately.

Aha. So there has been no market research and no guarantee there will be a draw to your product.

But knowing what you have exactly and what you don't have, here is what I'd do.

LOL, I had to just look up mini spit fire plane.

Can you burn your course/video to a CD? If so, you can immediately start an auction on ebay - I see the actual planes or kits selling there.

Get a quick promotional video up on youtube showing the plane too! and then use it as a video response to other videos showing spit fire plane.

With this process, you can find out if its even worth it to get it listed on clickbank. See if you get a couple of buyers.

Sites that sell well tend to be showing that they are already generating some cash.

In order to list your site for sale anywhere, you are likely going to need some funds to make the listing.

I'm not sure selling your site is the optimum choice right now if you can't afford the 50 bucks to clickbank.

I have no idea what your clickbank product/niche is about, but one thing you could consider is popping up a quickie sales page with a paypal button, and posting somewhere your link to your offer so you can get a few quickie sales (maybe at a discount) and generate some quick instant cash.

Do a limited offer. Do you have a list to promote it to?

Unfortunately I don't have a list to promote to, I thought about trying
without cickbank and just getting someone to promote it for me to their list.

The only problem I have then is that I have no way of providing proof of
sales to potential partners. I have had a look into some affiliate tracking
software but they all cost a lot of money and I wouldn't have the slightest
idea on how to go about setting databases up and whatever else you need
      to do.

That's why I was hoping to get it up on clickbank, it is so much easier if they
handle everything for you - well t is easier for me anyway lol.

Exactly, there are very few people that would go off and put up lots of auction fees just on the offchance that one may sell, much better to use one of your months revenues to list it...

@Opening poster, Could it be that you have a valuable domain name that has value all on its lonesome? If so that could be a way of getting people, there are far more people out there willing to bid on something even if it has no revenue if it is a good keyword like skincream.com instead of worldsbestestscincremebecauseicouldntbe-botheredfindingagoodname.com :p

Excellent suggestion as usual, just leave out a few crucial steps so that you don't find someone stealing your idea :p

Well, what's nice is if you do the video first you can actually use that in the ebay auction.

I have instructions on how to do that on my youtube channel if you need help.

Hey guys, once again thanks for your well thought out and helpful comments
yes I can put it on cd I was actually going to make it a physical product in
        the first place.

My site is prematureejaculationtips4u(dot)com, take a look at it just a basic sniper site really. Do you think it might start pulling a profit with its current setup. (if i get to number one to three that is) by the way my main keyword is premature ejaculation tips.

Also any ideas on improving it. As for my spitfire product it might be better if I do what avenuegirl said and try and blast a few out on ebay.

Valuations mean little. Sites are always worth what you can get for them. I got $4,000 once for a site that had a lesser assigned value. On the other hand, I have had sites valued at $500 or more, but I couldn't get $50 for them.

As others have said, Flippa.com may be the best place to sell a site. You can review past sales there to get a sense of the market. Most sites seem to sell for far less than owners think they are worth.

Also, Digital Point, craigslist, and other free classifieds and forums are the best places to go when you are strapped for cash and want to sell something cause their listings are free.

    Good luck!

    What's your site about exactly?
    Product data? Sales??

Flippa is probably your best bet... Go for DP if you are completely broke (don't expect more than $100 though).

To be honest I would be happy with the clickbank activation amount lol. I have already started emailing possible partners to help me promote my product and had a few positive replys.

List it on WF. Or, just create a blog on blogger.com and list your site for auction there. People can bid in the comments. You can promote your offer on sites like WF in your signature.

Valuation sites are worthless. They are not accurate. I assure you that I would be a millionaire if they were.

A site that is currently not making money will be harder to sell than one that is making money. Traffic and money sells.

In order to list it here in Complete Sites for Sale, it costs $20 and on Flippa it costs $19. You can try sitedeal.org, craigslist and I shudder to say it, DPoint. They are free. You can also list on Namepros.com in their marketplace for free.

      You could try SitePoint.

Alternately you could use PayDotCom.com to sell your product instead of paying $50 to Clickbank each time.

It's already been covered where you can sell a site, but there are other options to raising the $50 for clickbank if you're willing to put in a little work. I'm currently doing a little challenge with a friend to see who can make the most money without spending anything in 3 months myself...

Fivver - If you've created a product and built websites for it you obviously have some marketable skills, so market them. 13 jobs would give you your $50 needed.

You could also sell a limited number of copies of your product on there or Digital Point to raise the funds. If it's a good product you shouldn't have a problem.

Sell independently - Set up with paypal and sell your product half price to raise the cash. Write 10 or so articles, convert them to videos and plaster them on all the big sites. You could also promote it using facebook and twitter.

Lulu - It's free to set up your product as a download in the lulu marketplace, that could bring a few sales in.

There are plenty of methods that work, if you're willing to put in some work you should eaisily be able to raise your clickbank fee in a pretty short space of time. Best of luck with the launch!

To address the issue of selling your site...

Flippa would be your best bet, but bear in mind that it costs $19 to list your site.

To be honest... if you're on the first page of Google already, why not try and get in the top three before selling it? You're 95% there and if being in the top positions means the site actually makes money then you'll have a much easier time selling it and ultimately get more for it.

    After all, what's the rush?

Another thing worth noting... how broke are you? I don't mean to be harsh, but c'mon, it's only $50 for the activation fee. I don't know where you're based so that may be a significant amount to you, but why can you not just earn a quick $50 in a regular job or something. Even if it takes you a couple of weeks or so? Again, I don't know your situation, but is that not possible?

Either way, to list your site anywhere "decent", you're going to need to spend a bit of money. As I say, I'd try and get the site into the top three, then take it from there.

Well I think your question was answered pretty well...

I'd just like to add what I always told my clients when I was running a site-flipping coaching program back in 2008 - "The average value of your site is six months times the profit - and a site that's making zero dollars? That's still worth zero dollars. Everyone has an idea, a product, and a dream, but all a potential buyer wants is returns."

Only 6 times the monthly profit? With a solid list and organic traffic i've always been able to get 10-12 times the monthly net. Guess it depends on the type of site and the extras.
