Are domain boards past their prime? Where to sell domains/sites?

I now realize WarriorForum.com is the place to go to make money and get knowledge, certainly not domainer forums.

Domain name forums are mostly where many of the members are desperately trying to sell domains, especially at end-user price levels. However, it's mostly a huge waste of time since most all members/visitors are basically domainers looking to buy/sell at the wholesale level or below.

You also will get very little knowledge at domain forums these days since so many heavy hitters are gone with many starting their own blogs, etc instead of posting at the public domainer forums, The vast majority of domain forum threads are sales attempts (which usually fail).

I have been less and less active in domainer forums over the past year (after making over 10,000 posts going back at least 10-yrs). Now to the point I rarely participate vs the past. My time is best spent working on my sites, seo and getting knowledge here.

Do other warriors also feel domainer forums are well past their prime? A related question is can warriors recommend places to sell domains and/or websites at end-user prices?

That question just doesn't make sense to me. The purpose of a domaining forum is to keep you up to speed with what's happening in the domain name industry. There's no such thing as a domain forum being "past its prime" unless the domain indistry didn't exist at all.

    - Afternic.com
    - Sedo.com
    - Research businesses and learn their needs. Find domain names that will help them expand their market, and develop a dialog directly with them. This is the most efficient way to market many domains, at end-user prices.

I know whaT you mean. When I started out, I was making money as a domainer. Dnforum was the place to go. As matter of fact Dnforum is where I learned about online marketing. I didn't even know about Warrior Forum until I was 1 year into online marketing.

Domains don't seem to sell as well as they use to in domain forums.

I stand by what I said gathered from lots of first hand experience, they are definately far past their prime, and their decline is ongoing. What you said Gene actually reinforces my theory about domain forums in that they are well past their prime of several years ago when it was much more common the boards kept you up to date on the domain industry and had good knowledge posts from experienced members.

Over the past few years there has been a strong trend in the direction of heavy sales threads (often worthless or xx value names), with far fewer good threads contributing to everyone's knowledge. Many of the old big players are no longer participating on publiuc forums as they once did. In fact, they have been replaced to a large degree by a lot of newbies (with mostly no value portfolios).

P.S. I am not talking about niche forums or sites like your own but the better known or larger sites such as namepros, domainstate and dnforum.

I think that NamePros still has a lot to offer, and it's the only domaining-specific forum I frequent these days. I don't see a lot of what I'd consider "end user prices" there but of course the whole "end user vs. reseller" pricing debate is part of why the domaining sector is so on its ear -- ie. because it makes no sense, it is an imaginary distinction used to buffer the crushing disappointment a domainer experiences in the crash from expectation to reality. Domain sells for 5% of what you wanted? You weren't wrong about the domain -- it's a great domain, but you let it go at reseller so you could focus on bigger priorities.

As far as where to sell them, I mostly sell to end users and mostly sell developed, so not sure what to recommend to you. Bido is open again and I see small quantities moving through there daily; if you have some quality names why not post them there?
