Social Media - Little Broader Than You Might Think
That's right, I just said MySpace.
Ya know, the site with the goofy guy named Tom that was nice enough to be your first friend?
Yup, that one.
That poor website sure has gone out of style since good ole Facebook came on the scene... But that's a topic for another time. Let's get back on point.
So...
Yeah, I was wrong about what REALLY made up the term "social media."
In it's broadest form, Social Media refers to any website online that allows the user (you and I) to interact with it in some way, and add our own content.
There are literally hundreds of these sites out there...
Some bigger than others, some more effective for marketing purposes than others.
One that surprised the hell out of me was Amazon. I mean I already knew it was an online JUGGERNAUT... But again, my personal definition for what makes a site social was a little off.
After all, you CAN leave a customer review at the site.
Tons of people do it, and that's a perfect example of users interacting and sharing their own stuff with a website.
