How do I launch a viral, super-funky Facebook fan page that everybody "Likes"?

OK, so I know how to create a FB fan page, that's not the issue. I have a FB page, the next step is to make it a popular page, that everybody wants to "Like"...

I am really looking for a few tips from those who've been there, seen the movie, read the book - as I'm not sure how to make it go as viral as I would love it to...

For example, is offering prizes a good way of getting people to Like you and STAY a fan? Is a free report the way to go?

* By the way, my niche is a nuts and bolts guide to a specific country, with tips and tricks, top 10 lists, videos etc

nobody can explain exactly why certain things "take off". The only thing to work off of is your quality of implementation. If you can get a "connector" (somebody with a lot of followers) to like it, then that would be the match that starts the fire. On the internet, just be funny and people will share it.

I usually prep the page, spend $20 on impression ads through FB and watch the numbers explode. Only people that are interested will click it so really it's a good idea. Just make sure to run your ad after work hours or you might find your conversion rate a bit low.

You should provide Free Report on the topics that people want and need. And targeting the correct people is also essential.
I.e. You can't try to provide Free Report regarding specific country to those who never interested in traveling.
And the BEST way to ENGAGE people is by providing continuous add value: useful notes, inspiring daily status, etc. Facebook Ads that targeting people who interested in traveling might also help you to get your Fan page going viral.

    Just my 2-cents. Good luck!

Offering prizes is definitely a good way getting people to like you - especially if it's something that appeals to your target audience. I highly recommend it.

I did it with one of my fan pages and got around 400 people to like it within a few days. The facebook crowd seems to love the free prizes. I did a Free ipod nano prize and it worked very well.

Of course, once you have them there is up to you to keep things interesting enough for them to stay.

There are a couple different tricks you can use to help your page go viral. One very effective trick is to run a contest. Run a contest where you give away a valuable gift through a drawing for everyone that likes your page.

Then, randomly select one of the persons that liked your page and award them that gift.

Another effective strategy is to use curiosity. Develop a campaign that is popular to the masses and invokes a ton of curiosity. People will like the page just to see what is on the other side.

Contests and freebies are both good tactics. You can also search for similar or related pages with a large fan base and if they allow posting to their wall, leave an intelligent comment that includes a link to your page.

    Nice ideas guys, thanks!
The freebie idea - all they have to do is Like the page and they get entered into a draw for the prize? Could I not try and grab their email somehow and kill two birdies with one stone? Or is building a list through the fan page a whole new ballgame?
