How do I create a static page on Wordpress?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get used to Wordpress and it is kinda fun with all the plugins and stuff.

But I saw some people using a static page on their wordpress and it looks nice. It really look like a static website but with the categories and meta links still there.

How do I that?

Any wordpress experts here?

Login to your admin

Go to Write >> Page

Thats all there is to it

Well I would not call myself an expert, but if you go to wordpress.org look for the "sticky plug-in" that should do the trick. "wp-sticky"

Write a page, then go into the settings click reading and select a static page

The wp-sticky plugin doesn't create a page, or help you do so. What it does is that it allows you to mark a particular post as 'sticky', thus keeping it at the top of the heap.

They recently incorporated an 'announcement' feature, so if you use the plugin, be sure to read their documentation that will explain the difference between an announcement and a sticky post.

But if you want to create a page, just do what Mike suggested above. Login>>Write>>Page

If I've already created a page but it is not static, can I make it static?
Or it only works when you create a new page?

Find Cell Telephone Numbers

I know it is a wordpress theme but can I create something like that without using a theme?

There are 2 ways to set a static front page, which I think is what you want:

1 - From Worpress Pages WordPress Codex

"WordPress 2.1 introduced the Option to conveniently set any Page as your Front Page. Go to Settings > Reading in the Wordpress Admin interface. Under the Front Page Category, you can choose to set any (published) Page or Posts Page as the Front Page. The default setting shows your blog with the latest blog posts."

2 - Use a static front page plugin - do a Google search for this.
