writing articles as an affiliate

This may sound really dumb but i have never really understood this clearly. When writing articles to promote clickbank products, are you supposed to write about the product itself or do you just write about anything you want and then put your affiliate link at the bottom? Can someone clear this up for me =P.
Thanks

You can do either, Lorenz. Different people have different approaches.

(Some article directories may not readily accept "product reviews" that appear to be selling, though).

However you do it, attaching your affiliate link directly to an article is going to be a comparatively difficult way to sell Clickbank products, though. The two essentials for promoting Clickbank products are (i) effective pre-selling and (ii) building a list, and linking straight from an article to a hoplink prevents you from doing either, really. You may do a lot better with a little site (even a 1-page blog) containing a product review and an incentivized opt-in, and sending the traffic there. That way, you can sell them other products later, too - and doing it that way may go down better with the quality article directories, too. Just a thought.

I am planning on making a website to promote the clickbank product.
Would this mean that i should just post my website on my article before i submit it instead of posting the affiliate link?

Yes, this is the idea. You link to the website (using some approriate keywords as anchor text) in the articles' resource-boxes.

Yes, that is a very effective way of doing things as your conversion rate will almost always be higher if you send them to a good pre-sell rather than just sending them through to the sales page.

When it comes to choosing a topic for the article, most directories won't allow an overt product review and you don't need one if you're sending them to your own pre-sell page. Instead, pick a related topic to do with the problem that the product is intended to solve.

For example, if you are promoting a list building system, your articles could be on why building a list is important, how hard it can be to build a list, etc. Then your resource box will tell them how they can shortcut that process by going to your website.

  • depends what the product is. If its a get your ex back e-book, your not going to sit there and talk about the e-book.

Instead you'll probably write a small article that gives advice on getting your ex back.

Not so much that they don't click through, but enough to make them want more. I.E click through your link.

Where as if the product is an article distribution software, you may start of talking about what the benefits of article marketing are and in a very subtle manner mention the software etc.
