I just got this amusing email...

SUBJECT: Email 81 Million Targeted Prospects Monthly Guranteed!!! with 100% SPam Free! Limited Offer Only. Hurry!!!

In the body of the email, they said this "We've never had a single person accuse us of SPAM (because it's not!)."

Hehe, yeah right.

I can't believe people are still trying to spam. do you know anybody who has every bought a product after receiving a spam email?

It perplexes me.

    Hey magchick, Ya, people do convert on those spam emails... I dont undersatnd it. But, i think after they get sent email after email afer email, they finally givin thinking "man this must be real, they keep talking about it".

    Im not sure, but i think people finally give in!

      Maybe but I have a feeling it's more of a numbers game.

      If I send a spam message to "81 million" people (thats 81,000,000) how hard could it be to get a few THOUSAND people to convert per mailing?

      Then think of how much they make per sale X a few thousand...

      Repeat tomorrow....and the next day....and the next day...

        Why do unsolicited e-mail messages aways have to be misspelled and have poor punctuation? Do they think they're going to get past my spam detector? :rolleyes:

            I believe that people that are not very computer or internet savvy will open and read their spam messages. Now I'm not saying this is a fact, it's just what I think.

            The reason I say this is because I have family and friends that open and read their spam as any other piece of email. They will even try some of the offers inside their spam.

            My wife and I try to explain that most of it is junk if not all. But they don't understand why. They don't even understand what spam really is or the meaning.

            Like I said, I think that people that are not that savvy will read them, but people that understand what it is will just delete all of it at once and not look back. That's just my 2 cents.

                You would think that someone is obviously making some money out of it otherwise they would have given up a long ago one old email address of mine that i used when selling on ebay still gets upwards of 200 spam emails a day real poor quality as far as spam goes as well utterley unconvincing.

                  The people on the list are targeted in that they have email addresses. So you can be sure your mailing won't reach the Amish.

                  They may be truthful in saying they haven't received a single complaint- they've received multiple complaints! Or maybe they mean they didn't get the complaints, but the people who bought the lists did.

          That's part of it, but it's obvious when that's what they're doing.

          Another part is that a significant chunk of the spam going out today is Russian and eastern European in origin. You can often see the difference just by the type of misspelling involved.
