I'm a rookie in the IM community an a bit confused about how i manage the traffic and get people to my site
I understand the concepts of landing/squeeze pages and how to get opt-ins for list building... and blogs for content and ad-space.
I'm stumbling around trying to figure out what is the best method for this.
When are you suppose to use a landing page, sales page, squeeze page and blogs.

I find that the best targeted traffic usually comes from participation in forums in your niche. Just create a link in your signature to your offer and you are bound to get a few clicks. This method may take more time to "build a reputation", but I definitely think that it is worth it.

Another method for more "instant" traffic is article marketing. Make an attractive call to action in your resource box with a good title and you should be able to get a good amount of visits to both your articles and your websites.

Look at it this way - a "landing page" can be any of those, sales page, squeeze page or blog. It's really just the page you send traffic to, whether from PPC, forum marketing, SEO or whatever.

There's no hard and fast rule about when you should use each. Try and think like your target market to figure out which would make the most sense. Some markets will work better if you have a blog or something with a little more content than a strict squeeze page, while others might work better on a squeeze page with some kind of incentive for signing up.

If your goal is to build a list, getting your visitors to opt in is your top priority. Once they're on the list, you can direct them to various types of landing pages as the occasion demands (sales page, blog content, etc.) or split test different styles to see which ones are most effective.

I'd advise reading EVERYTHING you can on this forum. There is a lot of in depth information about when to use different kinds of pages.

I suspect that (like many people) you're a little confused about what these terms actually mean.

A "landing page" is simply the page of your site on which someone lands when they "click the link". It's entirely up to you to decide what it is. If your site is selling a product on Clickbank or elsewhere, for example, it'll be a sales page. If you're building a list (to the exclusion of everything else) it'll be a squeeze page, and so on.

A "squeeze page" is a page with an incentivized opt-in and no other content.

A "blog" is a content management system. You can use it to build any sort of website you want, including squeeze pages and sales pages. "Blogs" used to be differentiated from "static sites" but nowadays it's a meaningless distinction. "Blogs" are generally not "raw HTML" and are designed to be updated regularly. In theory. But add-ons and plug-ins can change all that, anyway.

Which you use, and when, depends on what you're trying to achieve ... except that you can now use blogging software to do "any of the above".
