Article Submitter Bots - Gold or Junk?

I want backlinks, I want traffic. I just spent pretty close to $100 on an automated article submitter, and then 6-8 hours of study learning the thing.

I just submitted my first article and three quarters of them were rejected (out of about 300), i.e. failed to post. I may have to tweak the program some but I am not very happy with it.

I want quality links not just junk. I am tempted to get my money back and just manually post it to 5-10 directories: less hassle, more assured quality links. That or pay someone to do it.

I could also go the monthly service route and get some quantity links, but probably not quality.
I have limited funds, time, and energy for this whole thing.

Anyone been here before. Would you just post the articles yourself manually, or let some program do it?

You get the quality/quantity/time ratio involved; but I wonder if all these "bots" are just really junk.

Right now I'm going for the quality, focused, sustained effort route without all the push-button "convenience".

    I bought Mass Article Control about a year ago and it was basically junk. Stay away from these. I think WP robot might be the only useful automated tool.

      WP Robot is to add articles to your own blog isn't it? Not submit articles to directories - correct me if I'm wrong!

      Curtis if it was obvious to the directories that you were submitting via an article submitter program then that could by why so many were rejected.

      I use Article Submitter, but it isn't fully automated which is why I like it. I put my article, resource box, keywords, title and summary into the program, select the article directories I want to submit to (I usually do 6 or 7 - just because they are the one's I like) and the program takes you to each directory one at a time. It automatically fills in the article details and I just select the category and click submit. So it is automatic in the sense that it fills in the details for you, but you still do part of it manually - which is ok as it then goes in as a manual submission and not a submission made by a program.

        Sheryl, is it all the top dogs in directories; EZA, Goarticles, etc? So I can go for the quality over quantity?

        I downloaded a trial and it only showed directories with zero page rank.
