Can i add my website link in a free E-book?

Hi Guy,

I am currently in the midst of preparing some Free report for my subscribers.

My niche is dating for men.

Found some free E-book dating guides for men.

However, there is this disclaimer notice right here :

Copyright Notice: You Have Full Giveaway Rights!
You can feel free to distribute this special preview version of How to Become an
Alpha Male as much as you want, as long as the content is not edited or changed in any way.

Was thinking of adding a link to my website at the footer of the E-book.

Can i add a link at the footer of the E-book?

Of course, i will not tamper with the contents of the E-book and will also not change the original link address mentioned in the E-book.

Will i be violating copyright issues if i will to add my own website link at the footer???

Unfortunately, I don't think you can change anything (and this includes adding a link) since this ebook does not come with PLR rights.

You only have giveaway rights for the ebook, as-is. If you want to do what you've mentioned, I'd suggest looking for a dating ebook that has PLR rights, and this way you can basically modify it any way you wish without fear of breaking any copyright laws.

      Hi Paul,

      Thanks for your reply.

What if i will to change the merchant website link with my affiliate link?

      Is that possible?

If you go strictly by the rules, then you cannot change or modify anything within that ebook. You could send an email with that ebook as an attachment when people opt in to your list and include your affiliate link within that email, though (or direct them to a product download page and have your affiliate link featured prominently on that page).

You're welcome! There are definitely ways to get around this without breaking the rules, just keep in mind what I've suggested above.

If you are the author, you can include anything you want.

A book with the copyright notice that you showed, you cannot.

"As long as the content is not edited or changed in any way," is part of the rights associated with the giveaway rights. It means what it says. If you edit the text to add your link, that is "editing" the text which the author has said is forbidden.

Confused as to why you were confused.

Unfortunately, you cannot change (or add) anything legally, without the permission of the author.
I would contact the author and ask if I could put my affiliate link to his site (meaning that if he has a product i would link to the product with my affiliate link). Since it is a win-win situation, maybe the author will agree.

As I've mentioned earlier, there are ways around this - you can do some of the things I have suggested while still complying with the copyright laws. Remember that you're capturing an opt-in on your squeeze page, so make sure you utilize the emails you send out using your autoresponder to establish trust, build rapport and also promote your site(s) and affiliate products as well.

Paulie888 had some good ideas. Another thing you could do is create a short bonus to go with the eBook, like a worksheet or checklist or something else your market might find valuable, and include your links there. Or, if this book is produced by a product vendor, you could contact them and ask for permission to use your affiliate link in the eBook. Some vendors make "rebrandable" eBooks available to their affiliates to use as promotional material.

Yukon's idea seems very practical plus it also will give you the opportunity to put your own spin on things.

    Here’s what to do.

Create a text file (word document or pdf) and name it Bonuses.

In the file thank them for downloading the eBook and put links in the document to your website PLUS an additional free download or two.

This way you don’t touch the eBook but you still get your site in front of others.

Then zip everything up into a single zip file
