I know this is going to sound like a silly question but how do you transfer a established WP site to a new domain?

Any help welcome

Best Regards

May not be the best or most expedient method but I simply FTP download the site as a backup.

Then upload the fresh backup to the new domain and adjust the database info as necessary.

Takes a few minutes but has worked for me.

I doubt it. I mean it should not work if you did NOt export/import the database.
Note: most host do NOT alllow remote access to the database server, so linking from one domain to the database on another domain most likely will not work.

    1. Use the normal default fonts - no need for fancy small fonts... old people hate it

    2. It can be done and depending on your skills it can be very easy.

However, the first question that comes to my mind: WHY do you want to do it? You are aware that moving it to a different domain you would lose your incoming links, SERP position etc.

    have a look at wp-config.php;
you'd need to migrate both your db and your web files over to the new server/domain

Can you explain why should the OP "look at wp-config" in order to migrate the files and the database?

Just curious, maybe you can teach me something new...

You can do this, I have done it. It does involve some finicky work.
First things first, BACK UP YOUR SITE! Including the database.

To back up your site files, simply download them via FTP.
To back up your database: Backing Up Your Database « WordPress Codex

To install on a new domain:

    Downloaded everything, site and database.
As mentioned above you will have to make some minor changes in wp-config.php

Here are some directions: Moving WordPress to a new domain or server « Steve Taylor

You can learn everything you need to know by searching Google and Youtube.

I'm gonna say it one more time, BACK UP YOUR SITE FIRST!

    Good luck.

You are right....I just have done this so many times that populating the database is somewhat second nature! But, yes, without it you don't get too far.
