Help Me Choose The Right Platform for Membersite

Hi.

Today I really need some help from some warriors who have created some membersites in their past.

I am into creating a membersite, and I don't know witch platform to choose.

The membersite will be free for all (at least in the beginning) and when people sign in, there will be a lot of category to choose from.

Those categories will have sub categories.

Later on I will also have two paid options where there will be even more information with the same category upset.

There will be several payment options as credit card and PayPal for the paid option.

Can someone point me in a direction on witch platform or software to use to create a site like this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS. This member site will be open for all WF members when it is finished, and I promise that it will blow you a way when you see what you get.

    Hi,

I can recommend a number of platforms based on more information from free to $1,000's.

Are you going to need affiliate tracking - drip feed of content etc. - the more info you give the closer the match will be.

      Hi, Brian.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I can not say to much because I need to protect my idea here.

I do not need a drip feed option.

I am not 100% sure about the aff. tracking yet, but if you mean that people can promote the membership to others and get paid monthly just for promoting the site itself that will be a huge ++.

The most important feature is that I must be able to have a lot of categories and sub categories in the member area, and the paid options (witch will come later on) must be a mirror of the free area + more.

There must also be a feature where people sign up free (no payed options when they sign up for the membership) but they can choose one of the paid options from inside the member area.

I hope this help to give me some good advice here.

      Thanks.

There are a number of membership type scripts out there but I do admit I'm
a bit lost to what you are trying to do.

In order to get help you might need to make things a bit clearer for us.

You want to setup different types of membership under one platform?

      Hi David.

      I will try.

Yes, I think you are spot on when you ask if there will be different types of membership under one platform.

Phrase one is a free membership, but later on there will be two paid options where there will be more options for the members.

Let us call it Bronze, Silver, Gold options just for the explanations case.

      I hope this helps.

Agreed, I've bought and evaluated about all of them out there...

and at the end of the day amember was seriously the best one to go with.

I bought easysmemberpro (easy to install, but not custom codeable as it's closed source so didn't do the trick for me)

I have postmemberpro (had 'most' of the features I needed but the other part was in post affiliate pro and was too messy to hack together)

and a few other scripts I've tested...none were as simple and feature packed as amember and that ended up being the one I went with.

    Hi,

Ok - you mention that it would be good to have affiliate tracking (possibility for the future as an existing module or addon) - are you experienced in HTML to create the categories and sub-category pages or would you prefer an administrator area with pre-built templates?

There are two main types of membership platforms - one where you have complete control over the content within a protected area and one that controls access as well as allowing you to have an admin/design backend area?

    Hi, Brian.

Well my problem is that I don't have any experience with membership site beside being a member to some (LoL), so I don't know the main difference between those two options.

I know how to create a html page, so I can create the content in those sub categories my self.

Maybe I have to learn how a membership site is technical working?

There are many good scripts out there... and implementing
a basic membership site isn't complicated - it's really just
about keeping out the people who haven't signed up.

How you will complicate things is if you insist on building
VALUE with technical features and gimmicks... like Facebook
      for example.

If you can afford it look at Fantasos - it does just about everything
and will give you a lot of options to grow - maybe more than
you want though and it may be more than you either want
      or need to spend.

Due to this, I am now closing down this tread as problem solved.

Thanks to all witch have helped me clear my mind on this and have given me valuable tips.
