Have you got any idea's what i could do with the domain college-offers.com Any IM potential?

The reason i bought it was specifically for the method of outsourcing flyers being put out in colleges advertising CPA offers but i spent around $50 and had no conversions so i don't want to pursue with that method any further.

I was thinking instead of making it just re-direct to an offer, have an actual webpage with college related offers such as Netflix trials, scholarship offers, etc.. but im not sure.

From personal experience in this niche, college students do not seem to open their wallet easily or often. I don't do paid traffic generation like facebook so that could be the main reason why I've never been successful in this niche.

Has anyone found any level of success in the college student niche?

Some people have had success with Netflix at colleges i heard. Promoting free offers maybe the best way to go.

Free offers are always the best when it comes to college students. I'm in the college niche and have always found that my offers convert A LOT more if I offer a free trial or giveaway.

Distributing flyers promoting CPA offers can be very, very successful. However, it depends on the offer, how you design the flyer and whether or not your site goes to a redirect.

Other CPA offers such as scholarship and tuition offers work well.

Find a CB related product, something like Get Better Grades and see if it works?

I'm a college-student myself and let me tell you one thing.

The site has to be 'cool'. If you've seen the social network (film) about the making of facebook it was very focused around being cool.

This is what I would do with the site: Provide tons and tons of FREE offers, discounts etc relating to student things. Students are into clothes, video games, SAVING MONEY, partying, alcohol, gambling etc, etc. You could build a list offering the students lots of free offers as they come out. (For example in the UK various clothing chains sometimes offer 20% off at certain times of the year)

Free information about this etc would be considered 'cool'.

Look at Home - DontStayIn. They offer free information about what is happening in your area, I assume monetized by companies wanting to promote their events etc. You could monetize the site via adsense although that is 'not-cool'.

I would try and create some sort of authority for the site without monetizing it at all first and then try to sell banner ad space etc and use CPA offers for your list.

    Jealous of your domain

Lots of good info in this thread!

I've also found the free offers to perform the best. I've tried clickbank product promo and have gotten tons of clicks to the sales pages but still haven't gotten a sale. They're interested, just not interested enough to pry open their wallets. The sales pages could be partially to blame but with the amount of clicks I've had, I'm forced to conclude students are simply very difficult to sell to.

Creating a 'cool' website is definitely the way to go since its the longterm business model. However to reach critical mass wherein your site becomes an authority site where students will visit daily is very difficult. It requires lots of time and work that for the average marketer could be better spent creating dozens of sites in other, much easier to convert, niches.

This is true. But if you did achieve somewhat authority site status then the website would be a gold-mine.

I think especially with all the proposed education cuts etc within the UK, an offers site would be good for students. We always want to be saving (or making) money - hence I've got into internet marketing. I think the website would definitely need some sort of interaction element so students can give their reviews on certain offers or something.

The site should probably be focused. And with this domain, definitely on the offers side of things. Damn, I have so many ideas now with the 'student niche' that it hurts.

And cooler1, I'll reply to your PM in a bit...

If I had that domain I would put up free coupon offers from around the United States and monetize with Adsense. Once you have a decent amount of traffic which you could use FaceBook advertising as a primary source you could open up to corporate advertising directly on your site.
