TIP: A Really Effective Way to Gain Your Articles More Views on Facebook!

Recently, beyond SEO, I have been using Facebook quite a bit to promote my articles. Unfortunately, there is a thin line between what is deemed overly promotional and what truly brings added value to a group/page/etc.

Without detailing the exact niche, I wrote a "How-to" article that directly related to one particular Facebook page that had over several 100,000 members. Unlike some Facebook fan pages that gain many members that don't interact at all, this group has close to 20,000 pictures uploaded. Because of the subject matter, it is near and dear to the hearts of the pages' "fans".

Rather than outright promote my articles, I began a thread that simply asked for others to share links to their blog posts and Web 2.0 articles. People tend to respond VERY well when you provide an opportunity for them to promote themselves. So, I proceeded to write a thread that emphasized sharing these writings. There was absolutely no trace of self promotion. After several people had responded with links to their sites/articles, I dropped a link to my first article.

When done tactfully, in a highly interactive Facebook group, this can be a very effective strategy to promote your content to a highly targeted audience, that will continually 'bump' your thread/content. As long as what you provide provides value, people are more inclined to thank you and embrace your offerings.

People have an inherent drive to promote themselves. Know that, and provide an opportunity for people to do that, whether you own a forum, site, Facebook group or page, or not. My thread is still alive and rocking....and, in the best interest of the group, people have set a grateful tone in the thread that is welcoming of posting even more links to helpful content.

This requires SOME patience, however, it is extremely effective.

So you started making posts asking for others to share their links then after a few posts you then dropped your like into one of your posts? Am I understandin you correctly?
