Really Confused About Linking To My Blog?

Hi,

I'm pretty confused about linking back to my blog from article sights, web 2.0 properties, etc.

To start with I'm writing a post on my blog, and then I'm putting the blog post on article directories and on my posterous network. I'm using the same keyword anchor text that my blog post is optimized for.

My question is, should my article be the same blog post that's on my blog. Should I just post my blog posts on article directories, web 2.0 sites, etc., and link back to my blog post with the same exact post on the article directories.

Does the anchor text I use on article directories have to be the same keyword that my blog post is targeting. It seems kind of weird to link an article back to the exact same blog post. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi, Garrett.

Let's look at big picture first then small picture.

All those sites - articles, web 2.0, blog comments, etc. - are going to be drawing their link juice to your blog page.

Remember that they have tons of backlinks that help make them a big authority site.

The anchor text you use is the one you want your blog to be targeted for.

The article you write in the big directories should look somewhat different to the blog post but they should be related.

A good example of this would be an article called "5 Reasons Why You Should Use and Article Spinner". Then your blog post could be a review of some product called "Super Duper Article Spinner".

Keep in mind the main purpose is to get the backlink to your blog to get your blog page to rank.

You want your blog pages (and blog in general) to be an authority site. Then also backlink the article itself with social bookmarking.

Your blog backlinking should look like snowflake. You blog is at the center. It's backlinked by a diverse set of web 2.0 sites, social bookmarking, blog commenting, article directories, etc.

Then some of those articles get backlinked as well. So you backlink the backlink to help make your blog more authoritative.

Depending on how competitive your keyword is, it could take a while, a few months even. If it's an easy to rank keyword, like the name of a recently launched product, you should be able to rank for that really easy.

Link to everything, not just your domain, link to every page and then link to the rss for your main blog and to the rss to your single pages using dap.
