How To Check If My New Site Is Indexed?

Hello Warriors,

I have a brand new site to which i have added some unique content and have also paid someone to do some backlinking.

I want to know..

1. How do i check if my site is indexed in Google & other Search Engines?

2. What is Pinging?

3. When i add a new article to my next,what do i do next?

4. What is bookmarking?

    1) just enter you site in google search. if you will find it, your site is indexed.

    Go to the search engine and enter your url as the search term. If your site comes up, it's in the index.

    2. What is Pinging?

    Pinging is sending a message or bit of code to sites set up to receive it (like Technorati or other aggregator) to let them know you have new content posted.

    3. When i add a new article to my next,what do i do next?

    Read some of the threads on article marketing for several suggested plans.

    4. What is bookmarking?

    Bookmarking is going to sites like Digg and creating a link to the page being bookmarked.

    The quickest and easiest way to check if your site/pages have been indexed is to head over to Google and search for your site address in quotations, just like this...

    "http://example.com"

    If indexed, your site will appear in the results.

    Pinging is basically using a service to shout at the search engines and say "Hey! Look At This Page!!!!"

    The purpose of this is to get the SEs to crawl it (usually for indexing purposes).

    Once you add an article to your site, backlink it! I wouldn't worry about pinging it directly as the SEs will crawl it if you backlink it from important sites. You could ping the pages that the backlinks appear on though..

    Bookmarking is a form of backlinking and social sharing of your website. There are various "bookmarking sites", Delicious, StumbleUpon, Multiply, Digg, to name a few. These sites allow you to post your URL with a short description.

    This is good for backlinks and also good for sharing your site around with other users.

    Thanks for all your replies Warriors. Dave you mention when i add a new article to my site i should backlink it. Where should i backlink it to?

    By the way i have googled my site and it is appearing in google.

      Ok, so when you create an article/post/page or any content to your site, you should create backlinks to it.

      Do this by using one of these proven backlinking methods:

      Article Marketing
      Blog Commenting
      Gov/Edu Backlinking
      Profile Backlinks
      Forum Post Links
      Web 2.0 Backlinking
      Social Bookmarking
      etc.

      You can Google these to find out how to do them, otherwise there is some great info here on the forum.

      Basically, you need to create links on other people pages that link to your site. These links should have keyword anchor text (using the keyword(s) you wish to rank for). These keywords should be carefully selected from the start by doing some keyword research.

      Keyword Research is another thing you should look up if you don't know about it already.

      Many high quality anchor-text links back to you pages = higher search engine rankings for that keyword.

      It's that simple.. there are many threads in the Adsense/SEO forum explaining the finer details but get the basics right first.

      1. Keyword Research
      2. Onpage SEO (optimizing your webpate for the keyword)
      3. Offpage SEO (backlinking)

      Keep it simple at first.

    Visit google.com and type in the following...... defineinging
    You will get some good explanations of the terms. You can also type in any other word apart from pinging to get their definitions.

    Another thing you can do is type in the word here in the search section of the warrior forum.
