Just when I thought I was getting there.....

Hi everyone,
as this is my first post I thought I would share my experience with you :-)
My jounrey in internet marketing actually began 3 years ago. During those years I had learnt a lot and was relatively pleased with my progress. I had a few sites set up and making enough to just scrape by. However things took a turn for the worse. It was a glorious sunny afternoon so I decided to go for a ride on the motobike. I'm completely oblivious as to what happened from that point onwards as I woke up in hospital. I was told that I had been involved in an accident, a car had pulled out in front of me at a junction and the rest is history. I suffered a bad concussion which initally led to a post traumatic amnesia. I spent a long time in rehab but things are finally looking up. Now here's the problem, everything I had learned, the endless hours of hard work has pretty much gone to pot in regards to IM as I have forgotten it all :-(
Also, remembering new things is very hard for me now as the mind finds it hard to process things. Anyway, I'm determined to make a go of this and make it a success for the second time! I have a few ideas and would love to pass it by you all. I will leave that for another post however!!

Thanks all for taking the time in reading this post.

So sorry to hear of your accident. Do you still have your sites? If not, do you remember which site was making the most money? If you remember the type of monetization you were using on that best site, I would start there. And just do one site. Make it a dot com, and buy a used domain so you get the benefit of age.

Welcome to the WF, and wish you all the best.

Hello DianeS. Thanks for the reply and the welcome. The sites have long gone I'm afraid. My new plan is to start a site based around trading the forex market. Now from research I know this is a competitive market, however, I'm lucky to know a retired wall street trader. Both of us have been day trading together for the past 6months and have a good R.O.I
I've persuaded him to start a trading room. It's down to me do all of the marketing however. It's going to be a challenge, nonetheless an exciting one!
      Anyway, thanks once more

      Cadi,

I have a friend who went through something similar. Hit from behind by a semi, and they didn't think he had any chance of ever living a normal life after it. He does pretty well now, despite that. You'd never know there'd been a problem.

Some of the things that helped:

Develop routines. Put your keys in the same place every time, etc.

Make to do lists for every process. Go through your checklists each time, one step at a time. If you need help developing the lists, make sure you get it from someone who knows, and go through it a few times with them watching. That helps reduce the chances of steps being left out inadvertently.

Lots of sleep and exercise. Staying physically in good shape will help reduce the effects of the frustration and stress that comes with re-learning.

Maintain a social life. It's very easy to get too inwardly focused when you spend a lot of time thinking about thinking.

If possible, work with a partner.

Forgive your own mistakes. They're part of the process, and you will get past them.

Do regular mental exercises. Learn new things.

Those are the highlights. You obviously want to run them past whatever medical professional(s) you see for handling the issues that come with this sort of injury. Some things are more important for some injuries, and others less so. Hopefully, these will help as a starting point, if you haven't already been told them.

The big thing to remember is that it can be done. It's not going to be easy, but it also doesn't have to be a torturous process. And others have done it and live very fulfilling lives after going through it.

Hi Paul, thank you for the taking time in replying to my thread. You offer some great advice there and I appreciate it. The house keys issue has been quite a burden as is waking up in the middle of the night and not quite remembering where the toliet is!! I recenlty bought a nintendo ds for the sole purpose of using their brain training game, it's quite a challenge! I do feel however that the biggest brain training of them all will be my education in IM.

It's great to hear that you're friend is doing well. It's very comforting hearing stories like this as you fear that your life may never be the same again. Motorcycles are very dangerous machines due to the fact that you're so vulnerable!I'm lucky to still be alive and given a second chance at this.

        thnak once again Paul
        Kind regards,
        cadi

Soooo sorry for your trouble! First thing I thought, you should keep a diary (or blog if you wish) on your ups and downs, achievements and what helped you to get there. In a years time, you'll have the basis for a great ebook.

    Good luck to you!

So sorry to hear about your accident and what's happened to you. I, myself, know what it's like to start over from scratch as I'm doing that myself right now but under different circumstances.

I will just keep a blanket invitation open to you if you want to ask me any questions you can PM me. I'm still learning some of this myself but together we can find the answer.
